Does a 3 stone ring on right hand llook like an engagement ring?

My best friend is getting divorced. She has a very pretty 1.25 ct emerald cut ring solitaire. She wants to reset it as a 3 stone ring with emerald cuts for her right hand so she can still enjoy the diamond. but she does NOT want to look engaged or married.

When you see a woman with a 3 stone ring on her right hand do you assume she is married or engaged? Or do you just think, OH what a pretty piece of jewelry?

I told her I thought 3 stone emerald cuts look less wedding like than 3 stone rounds. Don''t know why but I think they do.

What do you all think?

She is also thinking of selling it.

Personally I don''t think any kind of ring worn on the right hand makes you look married. These days I don''t think you can assume anything even from the left hand! If she likes the stone and wants to keep it, a three stone ring would be a nice way to change the look and the meaning of the ring.

I think you can wear anything you want on the right hand. Certainly a three stone does not signal e-ring for me, either. She might want to be careful what she wears on her left hand if it is important to her to not appear married or engaged.

ETA: Didn't see Sundial's post until after I sent mine...I see we were thinking the same thing!

I definitely don''t think wearing a diamond ring on your right hand signifies marriage or engagement. Afterall, don''t the vast majority of people wear their e-rings/w-bands on their left hand?

I agree that lots of single people these days wear diamond jewelry on their right hand. Anyone who is interested in your friend will ask her whether she''s married.

No, I don''t think the 3-stone ring on the right hand makes one appear engaged or married.

In fact, I don''t even think a 3-stone ring on the left hand signifies engagement in my eyes--it looks like you are married already and received a special gift from your husband. But that''s just my opinion. Solitaires truly signify engagement to me on the left hand.

So your friend should wear her ring proudly and enjoy her diamonds.

i agree, esp 3 stones on a right hand..definitely not anything relating to marriage or engagement.

Hi Asscherisme ~

I personally think 3 stones do not look like wedding or engagementy to me. When I see 3 stone, it reminds me of anniversary.

I think if she wants to keep it and wear it on what ever finger she wants ... then that is what she should do.

Has your friend ever thought about putting the diamond in a pendant? No one would make assumptions whether she is "Taken" or not ... at least I don''t think since it wouldn''t be on her hand.

I like the pendant idea, too. But-you can''t see it yourself that way.. I think a 3 stone on the rt hand would be very nice-and not signal anything engagement or marriage related. I picture it encircled with a halo of smaller rounds as a pendant....

Basically I agree with what everyone else has already said. I don''t know of any women who wear their engagement/wedding rings on as a RHR. If that''s what your friend wants to do with the diamond I say go for it!
