Hey there Bees,

Shopping for a stone is really hard work. The magnify view of the stones at JA are pretty intimidating especially if the scratches or dents will show up in real life.

I'm looking at three round stones from JA that look to be very similar yet I be concerned about the depth is too deep and not to mention about the angles. What are your thoughts and which one is a good buy? I'm also open to other stones.

Stone #1 is about $2750USD while stones #2 and #3 are about $3450.

They all look decent. Depth is a little high but 5.9mm is just right for that carat weight, so that's fine.

Which one would you choose?

If I were to pick based on the specs then I do go with #2.
Me too! I was leaning towards #2 but just a bit concerned that it might be too deep. I'm also debating if I should go with #1 since it is $700 cheaper but it's a J so not sure if there is going to be a yellow tint. I'm looking for a nice and bright diamond on a platinum setting.

And here's stone #1.

The JA gemologist said he prefers #3 but I like #2 more. And to top it off, I still keep thinking about the depth and think it's too high. Maybe I should look for another set of diamonds from BGD or WF. There aren't any JA diamonds in their inventory that I like at the moment.

I like the idealscope of 1.

My question is this though. Why on earth are you wasting money of such extraordinarily high clarity? And then compromising so much on color. You can see color, but clarity as long as it is eyeclean is going to look the same in an SI as an IF.

You don't need VVS.

Vs2 is just fine if eyeclean.

And then see if you can get to I color.

1 and 2 have the same spread. So the depth of the stone is irrelevant given the Idealscope. Personally I'd buy 1 if I was picking between those.

But I wouldn't buy a VVS clarity round.

Hi. Thanks for your advice. I really appreciate it. I didn't factor the extraordinarily high clarity and the VVS. Those stones were recommended by JA.

I'll keep looking for other diamonds. Most likely at WF and BG. Hopefully I'll find something in the .7-.8 with a $3500 budget.
