Sera-
Have you seen any of these IRL? During my search I was surprised at how differnt the rings look in person when compared with the gigantic images here. What I loved in real life, I did not love on these images and vice versa. I''m afraid to give an opinion because what I like here I might not life IRL. Nancy |

I have not seen any of them IRL. The only one I think might not be for me IRL would be the halo with the Asscher (3rd ring posted) or the baguette-round halo (4th ring) because I tried a Simon G halo on that was very delicate but looked a bit too large on my finger. I was thinking maybe something like that might be better for later on down the line when I get an Asscher RHR (won''t be for several years). I think for my stone I prefer the softer, scalloped-edge halo (if I go with a halo) like the last one with the 1ct Jubilee (though I would not want the airline). Too many pretty things to choose from!

Sera, I love Fran Fine''s ring, but it is like 3+ carats. I really think a stone your size will not look good set like that. A halo will really compliment your diamond, I think. I like the Beverley K setting and the Leon halo (#3) except I would not do 3 sided pave so you can wear a wedding band with it.

OK, does this help show the proportions better? Still not liking it? The baguette sides are not my first choice so maybe it doesn''t matter... my first choice would be trap sides but without a halo I think they would overpower my stone. I am just so reluctant to go with a halo.

i agree with DS. pearlmans has this tacori ready for a stone your size, but i''m not sure if you''d lose the shape of the POH in this setting, or if you''d like the baguette''s. i think it''s so pretty though.. http://www.pearlmansjewelers.com/jewelry-specials/previously-owned-jewelry/rings/096PO1/0/

That ring has the proportions I was wanting but didn't have a picture of one in that size which is why I used Fran's ring for a rough idea of what I was thinking about (only in my proportions). I like the ring, and I'm sure IRL it would look very delicate... I love that the halo is very subtle but I would want the pave band like Fran's and I'm not loving the side view. The proportions are exactly what I was envisioning. Too bad it's not The One because that is an excellent price! |

Yeah, I''m afraid of too much going on and then getting tired of the thing. But I really do not want a plain solitaire. If I go with a halo, I might want a very thin bezel around my stone to make the definition between stone and halo. I guess the consensus is to go with a halo. |

Thanks for all the suggestions.
As much as I love halos, I'm going to need to see some in person before I commit (my FI did not like the Simon G one I tried on and I agreed it looked a bit too big on me- not bulky at all, it was delicate, just big- it kinda turned him off to halos but he's softening on the idea). My FI suggested we go to Robbins Bros tomorrow to try stuff on again... the Simon G rings I was interested in they said they would call in but never did ![]() I also want to try to make it to 23rd St. Jewelers. I'm not sure if Maytal has a storefront or a studio/workshop where an appt. is needed. I left a message for her but haven't heard back yet (maybe she's gone for the holidays). I'm also not sure how 23rd or Maytal compares in price to Leon. I love halos but I also love sidestones... so... ![]() Hopefully tomorrow I'll have a decision and be free from my indecision ![]() Again, thanks for all the help and letting me "talk out" what I'm obsessing on. |

Meh... I tried on a lot and looked at tons. I'm kinda disappointed; I was hoping I would go and just fall in love with a Simon G or Tacori or something "as is." I ended up leaving frustrated and not really any closer to a decision. They had this one... I liked it, FI said it looked like a pimp ring They didn't have any of the Simon G rings with pink or yellow diamonds like I wanted to try on.![]() I tried this more subtle halo which I liked (though it didn't have the sidestones that I would want)... I shouldn't have said the word "halo" to him... that word triggers Tourette's-like pimp comments. Next one he's gettin' a pimp slap. ![]() This Tacori was nice, but I wasn't crazy in love with it... maybe with two pave bands on either side.

Sera, there are beautiful bands that go w/this setting. Let me look for the thread. That is one of my FAV settings I think trying them on in real life makes a big difference, or at least it did for me.![]() ETA: Look here, from GOG on page 3 http://www.pricescope.com/forum/show-me-the-ring/my-ring-finally-t65285-60.html |

It looks pretty with the band; thanks for the link. I had really wanted sidestones (but not a "3 stone" look)... and I was hoping if I got an ering and wband with thin pave shanks I could stack a thin pink one between and when interpreting I could just wear the thin pink. It just seems nothing I had been hoping for in a setting is working out... I may just need to pick something that has some of what I want. I just can''t find something that I love as is and wouldn''t want something changed. |

chel, no surpises... it''s for me!
![]() mrssalvo, thanks! I''m still totally in love with Leon''s designs... I haven''t seen any of his in person but have seen pro''bly every picture on this forum! Not as many have gone with Maytal, so I have seen fewer pics anad comments. I can''t wait to see some samples in person. I am hoping she is not much higher in cost than Leon. I had seen a few of her pics here and have looked at her site over and over again. Last night I searched again and found more pics and read the comments by people who owned one of her pieces. I was very pleased to hear that her work is impeccable from someone who has a ring they can thoroughly inspect. She is really very friendly, she listened to what my ideas were. I had mentioned having a small trap (or baguette even) set within the split shank, but she said that would be too bulky for me. She said the first idea would be more delicate (bezel halo around the PoH, step trap sides, very slight split shank coming to the corners of the outer edge of the traps). It was great to explain in nontechnical terms what I wanted over the phone and her understand exactly what I meant! I do like the idea of being able to see sketches and have someone local. I still have a bunch of decisions to make, but it feels good to be close to a decision! |
