I''ve been lurking this wonderful forum for the past month for invaluable information regarding cushion cut diamonds. The contributions from the forum users helped me to find a wonderful rock. I ended up working with GOG (thanks Jonathan) because of his wonderful service and expertise on cushions. Anybody looking for a cushion should check GOG out because they provide the consumer with the most information. I snagged rock 4 in this video because of its unique cut (its an 8 pav cushion modified brilliant), but I loved rock 3 as well (4 pav cushion brilliant). Anyways, I''m looking to purchase a halo setting for the rock now. The gf and I have decided this setting http://icestore.com/rings/diamond_gallery_lgvideo.asp?ID=343 would compliment our rock quite nicely. We have determined two routes for obtaining this setting; going with ERD (slightly modified Jessica Mark T Collection) or obtaining a casting (I think this is the same setting) from Adwar (http://www.adwar.com/products/styles/22465L/view)and getting it finished at Whiteflash. There''s a premium for ERD''s services, but their settings have received rave reviews. Whiteflash''s work has received tonnes of praise as well though.
As our rock is almost perfectly square (6.93 x 6.75 x 4.55), I''m not even sure the cast really needs any modifications to it either...so its simply finishing the setting I think. I was hoping to get some insight as to the differences between custom work (ERD) versus getting a cast (Adwar/Whiteflash)? Which is better quality (if any) or better value? Thanks in advance for everyone''s input.
