Here is a video created by Good Old Gold showing the difference between a GIA Excellent vs. Very Good.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QJh5SH5fg3I If you are not looking for a H&A stone I would recommend looking at James Allen. Unlike Blue Nile, JA will also be able to provide you with an Idealscope image giving you a much better understanding of the performance of the stone. Other vendors you could check out include Brian Gavin Diamonds, High Performance Diamonds, Good Old Gold, White Flash. |

Thanks for the video, I will go for the ideal cut over the excellent. They had some 1.5, SI1, excellent cut G colour there however on the photo I could see the inclusions on the top in the photo without using the magnification. Are they likely to not show looking at them a few inches away? |

depends on the proportions. GIA allows for steep pavilion angles that will allow leakage even in the Ex cut grade.
Use this tool to weed out these stones then ask for an idealscope image. http://www.pricescope.com/cutadviser.asp BN will not be able to provide idealscope image. |

Whoa, talk about a misleading video title! EX vs VG is not the only or even the most important distinction between those two stones.. it's all in the proportions and decent symmetry, perfect hearts not required. |
