only one who can answer that for sure is a gemstone cutter with the stone in hand.
If the material is too dark the only way would be too cut it so it windows and that looks worse than a dark stone too me.
So the question becomes can it be recut without windows into a lighter colored stone.
If its one of the inky almost black ones then the answer is likely no.
otherwise the only answer you can get online is maybe,,,,,
I see! Thank you. My stone height seems deep, so I hope that recut will lighten the deep color (I think it is not inky, it is from Madagascar). If someone can answer my further question, I appreciate.
(1) Does appraiser (such as gemappraisers) can recommend a good cutter (or someone here)? I live in New York.
(2) The stone is heat-treated, not natural, it is not worse spending further? And it is already set in a ring (so I need to remake the ring, if I proceed.)
