Thanks, Gayle! Here is a link to a thread about my rings. Sorry, I don''t know how to make it clickable. http://www.pricescope.com/forum/show-me-the-ring/new-photos-old-ish-rings-t129381.html |

I got the link EHR, I did a quick cut and paste and was able to read all about your rings. I love the way you are able to mix them up and wear them different ways. I''m thinking about two shared prong eternity bands with rounds, similar to yours. I like the idea of being able to wear them with my solitaire or to wear either of the two bands alone or together.
Thanks for the inspiration! |

Thanks for posting this question gayle - I was wondering the exact same thing, and its good to know that its really just a question of whether you care about the setting enough to protect it (which if its a temporary setting you may not).
I wonder how long it would take to see the effects with every day wear? Does anyone know? |

I would guess it would take awhile to notice a real difference-many many years is my guess. But not something you want to do if your ring is an heirloom or it''s your "forever" setting. |

This will be a disaster. The shared prong bands will chop thru the sides of the prongs like no tomorrow, not because the platinum will wear away the white gold (which it will at a faster rate than others have advised you) - But because the diamonds girdles will act like saws! As the link Pyramid posted - wear plain bands in between or be ready to cry a lot.

Thanks for your input, Garry. Your concern about the girdles of the diamonds fits with what I have read elsewhere. So here''s my next question: can one ever wear a shared prong eternity with another ring or is this style something that must be worn alone?
Are there other options for an eternity that would be less destructive? Am I stuck with a channel set or bezel set (they don''t seem to have as much sparkle to me). I appreciate your thoughts. |

I like to have this option, as well. I have a tiny 1mm 14kt gold spacer that I wear when I only wear my ering and eternity to prevent rubbing. This might be a good option for you. It was <$40 and is hardly noticeable. |

Lots of people wear bands like that with solitaires. The rings can be made so the girdles are not exposed. But it is a more metallit look to the ring.
My ring is half eternity and the metal on the underside is juuust thicker than the band where the diamonds are, which keeps the diamonds from rubbing the e-ring. Another option is to get a solitaire that is constructed so that the diamond band does not come into contact with the head of the ring. My ring is like that, so my diamond band couldn''t possible damage the solitaire. It is the BGD Truth solitaire. |
