Here are a couple other threads I found that feature the Novela, with an RB and with a cushion sapphire.

Thanks Dreamer!! A couple follow up questions..I''d like to pick your brain (or anyone else''s who happens to read this thread).....Have you see the Novela in person? The reason why I am asking is my GF loves the Novo and I think the Novela compares favorably but its hard to tell with so few real-life pics out there.
If you have seen it how does it compare? I like the idea of being able to maximize the stone in a quality setting vs unnecessarily paying the huge mark up at Tiffany''s. I''ve already spent hours on here pouring thru the other Novo inspired creations and have found a few others that are equally compelling (Maytal Hannah, LM, etc) but still have a few lingereing questions On the Novo is there a standard size for the band? Is it a 1.5mm pave band? Also when getting a pave band does the quality of the side stones need to match the center stone? Lastly Im still getting my head around the differences btwn a cushion brilliant with 4 or 8 pavillions do you know of a good thread on here that discusses the technical and aesthetic differences between the two? |

Hi G--- some of your questions (particularly those in reference to stats on the ring) would be best addressed to the vendor. As for how they stack up to the original... any reputable vendor will have made about 20% changes to a patented design so as to protect and respect intellectual property rights. So the Novella will not be an exact copy. While many Psers would likely pick a larger non-branded ring over a designer ring if they could get the same (but not exact) look for less... your lady might not feel the same way. There are many on here who would prefer the blue box too. In fact there was a post on SMTR this week that had a lady with a .40 Tiffany solitaire, and she was thrilled because the name meant a lot to her. Would I make the same choice... no. But everyone is different. Is your lady in love with the style or the name? There is a big difference and before you proceed it might be a good idea to see what you can do to check to make sure she would be satisfied with something other than the blue box. BGD does make stunning pieces with exceptional quality (I own one such piece)... BUT for someone who wants the blue box, even a BGD piece might not satisfy.

Thanks for your response Gypsy...regarding your questions..My GF is definitely flexible has certain style preferences but is not fixated on the Blue Box. More than anything she wants a nice high quality stone in an elegant simple but classic setting which is why she likes the look of a Novo and the shape of a cushion. She would like to be surprised and doesnt want to micro manage the design and/or selection process and would rather I find something fitting the aforementioned guidelines with an emphasis on getting a great stone. Unfortunately right now we are in a long dist relationship so it''s a bit difficult to do a lot of "casual" ring shopping (to observe her preferences & latent likes/dislikes) w/o giving the surprise away. So with all that being said this is why I have settled on trying to find a reputable designer who can meet my needs and her style preferences. I could get creative and work with LM or a another designer to make something truly unique but I''d rather keep it simple and find something that I''m sure she would like since its close to the Novo. I''m guessing that if I spend ~15K, I can find a great ring w/o having to go to the BB route.
Is your BGD piece an ER? If so have you posted it on here before? |
