I have heard and seen very good things about the WF version designed by Le, the master metal smith. http://www.whiteflash.com/engagement-rings/half-bezel-heavy-shank-diamond-solitaire_714.htm I think I would see if the shank could be thinned though. Apparently the tiff shanks vary by diamond size whereas I am not sure if this one does?? You would need to ask.

Thanks, dd! It looks like the Whiteflash version has the stone sitting a little higher than I'd like. And I was shocked at the $$!
James Allen has a nice option, and I can get platinum for just a couple hundred more than Whiteflash's wg. edited to add: Whiteflash platinum option is $100 less than JA, but their wg option is $400 more!

I spoke to both Whiteflash and JA about a year ago on this exact setting. At the time I was looking to set a .50 - .60 diamond in this setting.
If I remember right, the SA's at both WF and JA told me this setting is quite wide and does not vary with the diameter of the stone the way the Tiffany setting does. So although they can set a smaller stone in the setting, the width of the band will remain constant. I really like how the Tiffany setting is designed to balance the size of the stone, so I decided against getting this setting from WF or JA. I really think this setting is made to show off diamonds around 1/2 carat, so I wish there were more options out there from our vendors (hint!). I traded in my .53 stone for my 1 carat, and I did consider asking Wink to custom make this setting for me for my 1.0 carat, but decided against it because the setting would be just too wide for my finger. But I would contact him and some of the other vendors who do custom to ask what they'd charge to make it for you to your specs (lower-set head, band width tailored to stone diameter). |

I actually asked WhiteFlash and Brian Gavin Diamonds about this exact ring this week and with a .5-.7ct diamond the width of the band will be 4mm at either place. They both vary the width of the ring depending on the size of the diamond.
BGD will do a custom Etoile replica for about the same price as WhiteFlash''s, so you might want to get in touch with them? Both companies were great to work with, I just need to pull the trigger now and decide if I want BGD''s replica or WF''s standard setting-- they are about the same price in platinum-- around $1800 |

Uppy! have you tried Etienne Perret? http://www.etienneperret.com/ I bet you'll find his pricing quite reasonable. I've had several quotes from him when I was searching for resets.. He's such a gentleman too! very friendly and prompt at email response good luck though! I love that ring and Etienne can make how you want it too.
