Wrapping it all into 1 fun topic.

It seems that even deal hunters can't find a steal in the diamond business so the next best thing appears to be buying from those that have to sell, because heck, my offer is going to be better than a pawn shop right? I might also be wrong on that.

Anyway someone locally I've found wants to sell a Leo Diamond Engagement ring. Sadly it's a GSI certification. From what I've read it seems the specs can be on average 1-3 ratings below if it were GIA. But at what price point (assuming I look at it, like it, and get it appraised/examined by an independent appraiser I've found on this website), does it makes sense? She's offering it for $4000, retail on Kay Jewlers website is $5999. If I can get it for $2500-3000, wouldn't that be somewhat of a deal? I dont' want the setting at all, really just after the diamond.

Any thoughts are appreciated.

Whats the carat size, have you tried pricing out diamonds from non B&M stores?
