So, I''m working late, about to go home...

And apparently ALL the elevators in our office building have gone down!

We''re on the 20th floor...I called building security...their response..."Can you please take the stairs?"

"When will the elevators be back up?"

"Oh, we really have no idea...we have to wait for the fire department to get here first..."

So, what would you do after a 12 hour day? Hoof it down the 20 flights (actually 22, as my parking spot is a few floors underground) with your heavy purse and laptop? Wait it out? How long should I wait?

And what bling should I oogle in the meantime?

Okay. That sucks. Can you nap at work? That''s what I''d do... and just tell them to call me. But I''m lazy.

Rockzilla..I''d take the stairs. But then I''m an exercise freak. When I worked, I never took the elevator...ever. It was only 8 flights, which is a lot easier than 22 obviously, but those extra flights helped burn a few extra calories.

Just proceed with caution if you are wearing high heels, and can you lock your laptop in your desk so you don''t have to haul it? Think of it as a quad toning opportunity & hold the handrails.

As long as you don''t have an injury or other health issue hindering you, there is no reason you can''t do it! Go for it!!!!

Elevators are back up...woohoo!!

Divergirl...the one time I had to take the stairs before was our fire drill...unfortunately I was sore for a week afterwards! And, I''m supposed to meet my BF at the gym tomorrow at 7am...I don''t think he''d be too happy that I didn''t show up because of sore legs due to stair climbing =)

I do wish I could take a few flights though...say get off at 16 and walk up. But, the stairs aren''t really "public" they are emergency stairs, so once you get in, you can''t get out, except on the first floor!

I am lazy but paranoid too! A nap sounds good but feeling stuck does not! And you would be going down, not up!!! I would lighten my bags by taking out non essentials and I would walk as long as I knew the doors were unlocked on each landing and my cell phone worked on the stairs, and I would make sure someone knew I would be on the stairwells. I would not want to get stuck in the stairs either. Send some emails too, alerting people you were going to be doing that. But I would call security first and see if someone could escort you or meet you or something, no chance I would want to get trapped mid way in the stairwell!!!!

i would have gladly taken the stairs! i take 4 flights of stairs at work about 2-3x a day. it''s a great way to get a few minutes of workout in...heheee. plus going down isn''t as hard as going up, hehehe. glad to hear you got out safely regardless.

I would take the stairs and then order extra Whip on my Venti latte for the ride home...and a cookie too.

DKS

There is something wrong in that statement about being too sore to go to the gym...

Actually going DOWN stairs is harder for me...not physically but spatially. Don''t know why, but my foot always manages to misshoot the distance. I''m lucky I haven''t landed on my butt more than once in my apartment. I go down stairs like an old lady!

That being said, I would have just gone down the stairs like an old lady. That has more to do with being in charge of the situation and not caring to wait around.

Glad the elevators are working and you got out safe! I would have taken the stairs. Even though 22 flights of stairs is a lot, it is much easier going down then up. I''d just take breaks if I got tired.
