Ok,

I have decided to get the Canon Poewrshot S3 IS ...

I am going to order this online ... it will cost me total $420.00.

What else am I going to need for this camera?

Will I need, a memory card ... what brand / kind is the best ... and should it be 1mg or 2mg?

Will I need a USB cord to attach it to my computer so that I can show you guys my ring when it comes in? If so, what kind of USB cord is best?

I think I need a reader card only if I get a printer ... right? (Don''t have money for the printer at this time, maybe in late summer.)

This is going to be my first dig camera and attempts to somehow get those images onto my computer! Are there any big problems that I should be aware of with Digcameras?

I will need to get rechargeable AA batteries ... are there special ones that are better than others?

Thanks for any replies ... I hope to order soon.

Which online store are you ordering from?
You need to be careful and make sure its a US model otherwise there is no warranty.

2GB or 4GB card definitely. Id go mid range 80x or so on the card.
The camera isn't fast enough to need the 150x.

At least 3 sets of batteries.
The higher mah the better.
2400 are better than 2000 etc.

Get a card reader they are only around $20 tops and allow you to save your cameras batteries.

Hi Storm ~

Thanks for replying. There were several that offered the camera for $420.00. I compared prices off of the digicam links you gave me a few months ago. I think I used Steved digicam site more though.

I think the three that offered it for $420.00 were all in the US. I will have to go back and look.

Is there a brand name that is better than the rest, no problems with the cards reading etc...???

I think I read somewhere about ???Nicad rechargable batt''s??? are better?

Does the card reader go in the camera too? Or just for printer?
I have a sneaky feeling this isn''t going to be as easy as I thought it was going to be!

Thanks storm ...

1: you need to ask if its the US model, where the store is doesnt matter which model it is does.

2: brands.. there isnt a lot of difference. sandisk is likely the best.

3: NiMH is what it calls for.

http://www.steves-digicams.com/nimh_batteries.html

4: mah is how much power the battery provides between recharges the higher the better for any given battery size.

5: the card reader plugs into the usb port of the computer.
You remove the memery card from the camera and plug it into the reader instead of plugging the camera into the computer.
You dont have to run the camera while you copy pictures which saves the camera''s batteries and no wear on the camera.
