Did I get fleeced?

I recently bought my fiancee (she''s posted on here, her handle is faerievert) a pearl ensemble consisting of a necklace, bracelet, and earrings. I bought it online and thought I was getting a good deal because it also came w/ a copy of the AIG Appraisal shown here.

Then I went back to bid4assets.com where I bought it from to see if they had anything new and good. That''s when I found the exact same thing for sale again by the same seller, Biton Auctions. I was curious as to how this happened so I clicked on the auction. And lo and behold, the exact same appraisal was offered with these new pearls too. Same Appraisal number and everything. So now I''m going to get these pearls checked out to see if they are truly what they were advertised to be. If anyone knows anything about these sellers or AIG laboratories or whether or not this is a real appraisal please reply. I''m new to buying jewelry (I only know that I like shiny things, and Jacqui approves) and I''m feeling like I just got taken advantage of. Please help me.

It says function of appraisal is for comparison so it is not an apprasial of the piece you bought. Hopefully (and they are saying what you bought is the same quality) I think you should get it appraised and if it doesn''t come close you should return them. HTH.

I''m definately gonna go and get this appraised. I''ve found one Master Gemologist Appraiser on the ASA website. Does anyone know of any other respectable appraisers in the Detroit area?

Please get them appraised asap. I sold Mikimoto pearls and have to say, you paid a lot for what you're getting. I know I am going by the description only and haven't seen the pearls of course, but I have to say I would be worried if I were you. Please let us know what the appraiser says. This is a case where I hope I am wrong. Good luck!!!

I did not pay the estimated retail price for these pearls....I bought these on auction for $140.00....

I did get mine appraised by a certified jewelry appraiser. He told me that they''re worth about $400 on today''s market so I didn''t get taken, but its definately not what the seller tried to make it seem. And Jacqui still likes them alot so we''ll be keeping them.
