I kind of like that. Makes the bezel stand out a little more.

I agree.

I mention it only becuase you still have it in your list, but that ja stone would have free returns and free shipping both ways, I'd you were so inclined to see about the color at home.

To those curious, links to all orange, round, approximately 4.2mm diamonds I've looked at so far:

CaratsDirect2U and album

Leibish (too large for me)

Diamond by Lauren

Langerman - 1, 2, and 3

James Allen

These three are the only from those I personally would consider, as most of the others are too brown or in the case of the JA, too light:

This is a completely different directions, so please feel free to disregard. But since you have a lovely diamond in hand and are having trouble finding the orange stone, have you considered doing a halo with orange sapphires or diamonds? Finding nicely saturated melee stones might be easier!

I thought about this at first, but the halo seemed like a little too much for my liking.

Thanks for the feedback! My issue with Langerman was all the extra charges on top of the displayed price. Tax is nearly $300 and shipping is listed at $180. Returns seem like they'd be quite expensive as well. I have to give some more thought those those two. The DBL one is appealing, I just worry it's a tad too yellow.

That is an excellent policy on their part. I'm strongly considering it simply for the assurance and convenience of the return.

I agree I'm a big fan of the diamonds by Lauren one. It's a very bright stone. I also think if you ask they still have a discount if you are referred to them by pricescope

Unfortunately orangey diamonds aren't so common that you can be very picky about where you order from. The way DBL's photographs are taken there's a lot of light coming in from the back of the stone, so it'll probably look darker in person, maybe even enough to look more orangey. I'm afraid that a lot of the diamonds you're linking are just going to look like little dark brown blobs next to your pretty oec, and I think both you and your fiancee-to-be would prefer something brighter next to it, even if it is a bit more yellowy.

And plenty of places are going to charge tax and shipping. However if you can't return or if returns are prohibitively expensive, that's a problem.

Thought: orange(ish)-yellow beats yellow(ish)-orange [re. diamonds]. Perhaps you can get away without 'brownish' [not an absolute sentence].

E.g. FIOY , FVOY You have one of this kind on the list already - a shade closer to yellow still, not that I'd mind trading darkness for that.

I'd T&M with a round & pear (or heart) - not that I have seen many such asymmetrical rings around. Perhaps you can see a pear instead of the two marq's in this one ?

Still digressing ...

If the FCD is too yellow for you, I can see going with brownish to stay within budget but I'd rather not go with a dark brownish because it just "kills" the bright orange side.

Are you opposed to a lab grown diamond? It's not a fake diamond, just a controlled lab setting. You can have something specially cut for you and Jonathan will be able to give you a price for the mm size you would need. He worked/owns goodoldgold.com and has a ton of diamonds not lab grown but has recently gotten into the lab grown side of things too. I would at least shoot him an email since with lab grown you will hopefully have a bit more control over the color of the orange your getting and you'll save a decent amount going this route too.

I would call and ask for Jonathan and at least ask him, can't hurt to find out.

D.nea also is a great lab grown diamonds vendor. You'd find info on them in the lab grown diamond area.

True. I just was a little taken aback since the tax and shipping weren't listed forthright and added another $500 or so to the listed price. Most other places wouldn't add more than $100 after everything else.

It seems I need to be careful about the darker colors. Thank you!

I don't know why I didn't think of lab-grown diamonds. I will widen my search. Thank you!

I was looking at your ring design and love Neil's suggestion. You might think about thinning out the metal a little more and have
each "arm" of metal wrap around the stones and make the bezel. See this ring in the link...ignore the shank part...so have each metal
arm start to curve vertical as it passes one stone then goes and wraps around the other stone to form the bezel. Hard to describe but
basically what you have but a little thinner.

The cool thing about lab grown is you can have it cut into an old euro to match your heirloom stone too :naughty:

I have inquired about the sapphire in hopes of getting some clearer photos. The search continues.

Montana sounds nice ! If that stone does not fit the bill, perhaps look for a specialist seller of Montana sapphires ? As far as I understand GIA video (related contact), the size and shape you are after is straightforward. And some striking straight orange is possible... not unlike the large stone mentioned earlier here ...

As it turns out that Montana sapphire is too yellow. This was suggested to me though (the one on the left):

Hi fishfrenzy. I know you plan to bezel your stones but here is a link to a ring that shows the additional space neil suggested for your design Follow the link to see other pics including a hand shot.

I think you have the wrong link.

Haha, no. I think they will overwhelm the diamond I have. I'm still looking for the perfect companion to it.
