ETA on customized rings

Hello,
How long does it usually take to receive a ring that you are having designed from scratch, once you have agreed on the ring design and it goes into casting? I don't want to be specific about the designer. Just curious.

Personal experience:
Initial contact w/ jeweler was July 20
Stone shipped to jeweler July 26
Ring was on my finger Sept. 13
My ring design was very large and detailed. Additionally, while the setting was being designed, the center stone went to GIA for grading.
When I was looking into going the custom route, I was told by others who had gone the custom route that it could, in total, take up to 3 months.

Well that's a good thing! Mine took a bit over a month. I was a bit indecisive!
