2.45 carat spinel from Jim McCormick.9.37 mm x 7.62 mm. He described the color as lavender-lilac, Light toned bluish purple, grayish. I don't really see the blue as much, only in some lighting. Most of the time it's a straight purple. In bright lighting it gives off reddish flashes. It's very pretty and was reasonably priced so it's a keeper. Vendor photo in natural light, my photo in office fluorescent. I found the vendor photo more accurate than the video in this case.

wow, Mochiko! It matches your nails :) I really like it IRL and it does look close to the pic. I'm glad you're happy with it although sorry the video was less accurate in this case.

Mochi- that is such a pretty color. Love the cushion shape of the gem as well.

Purple garnet, cut by Jeff white.
Specs: 9.01 mm and 5.86 ct

I would say the colour is accurate in most lighting conditions. Jeff also sent me a video showing the stone in different lighting conditions which was accurate.

Sunstone Iolite, sourced by Bradley Payne (TGT)
Specs:
Oval
4.18 ct
12.4 x 10 mm

The vendor pics are more or less accurate when the schiller is on. It would be good to include vendor pics with low schiller.
The stone is beautiful and I would recommend buying from Brad.

Blue zircon, cut by Dan Stair, sourced by Chris Auletta
Specs:
5.61ct
10.14x8.78mm

Combining the various photo's, the video and Chris' description leads to a very accurate view of the stone. However, the stone is more beautiful than I could imagine.

Peacock blue green zircon from the fabulous Chris Auletta. First two pics by me while set in a stunning trilogy setting by Alistair Kelsey. Then two pics from Chris: besides the officiel vendor photo he has send me several pics and a video. (In the handpic, it's the stone in the middle.) I could therefore make a great assesment of cut and colour. I would say the vendor pics are accurate, especially combined with Chris' comments and review. However, as always his stones somehow are even more beautiful in real life!

Black opal by Black Opals Direct, setting by Alistair Kelsey.
The stone looks different in real life, but in a good way! I loved the blue/green in the photo's, but it's much richer in real life.

Acinom, love your opal and its unique setting. Coincidentally, I'll be buying an opal from Black Opals Direct this week; just having a hard time deciding among three stones.

How exciting deco1! Have you decided on a stone and have you received it yet?

DSCN4358.jpeg IMG_0057.GIF RubyTsavoGroup.gif From The Gem Trader
Ruby and Tsavorite
Ruby listed as minimal residue on site, but subsequent convo it was indicated as moderate residues.
My photo was best it ever looked to me IRL, which was very infrequently.

Most of the time the third image is closest to what I see. All varying degrees of indirect sun or light cloud cover. If the spinel mostly looked like the first pic- I'd be thrilled.

1.04 carat Montana sapphire from Earths Treasury, Jeff Hapeman. This is a beautiful stone and i wouldnt have sent it back but its a little to small for what i'm trying to do. First photo is stock, second is mine taken indoors under indirect natural light. So fun to actually get to 54A1475-ET-1200.jpg 20471793_10156657089442575_361443990_n.jpg share.

This one is from Dana at MastercutGems, and oh my god, i'm in love. Its so clear, and has no windows that i can see, its so great. Happy happy camper. In person you can't see the color zoning at all, it just comes out a lot in photos. First two photo's are vendor, second two mine. 27910.jpg 27908.jpg

Unheated Montana sapphire from Westview Gems. Described as a cornflower blue. In real life is a beautiful steely blue, with no green. Sorry my pics aren't so good!

One more. I wanted to add - my lightning conditions are not to be compared with anything else. It poured cats and dogs in Seattle today. So I usually take photos where I plan to wear the stones, at work. I like the stones, they are quite impressive and could look good in hanging earrings.

You know, I like your picture more. First, it shows the dispersion better, and second, steely-blue is a much more interesting, unusual, saturated color than light cornflower.

Thanks! It definitely looks more like the vendor video color-wise. It's a beautiful color for sure!
