What do you think of this emerald?

Hi guys, my first post here but I've been a lurker for a while. My boyfriend found this emerald and thought I should get it. We do have a few other emeralds of higher quality already. But this one looks like it may be more glowy. I was looking for a more affordable emerald to wear more regularly than I will my other when it's set since I am worried about damaging an expensive stone. What do you guys think of this one? My main concern is that one end of the emerald seems like it may be opaque? It's from a vendor we have seen recommended on this site but I'd prefer not to link it as I don't want it sold from under me.

Regards,
Matt

Yes, it does look opaque and waxy but the price reflects it too.

Is it a Zambian Emerald? Seems a bit darker in color than the Columbian Emeralds.

I was afraid that may be the case. He has a very nice round emerald and I have a little Colombian ascher emerald. We have just been worried about setting them and damaging them. I'll have to post pictures of them soon and maybe get some help on settings for them. There doesn't seem to be that much out there for men's rings for us. Thanks for the help

Matt, did you end up buying the emerald? I liked the color. Here are a few ideas on a setting. You didn't mention what type of setting such as modern or what color of gold.

I didn't end up getting it, I already have a stunning emerald that needs to be set, I've just been so paranoid about damaging it. I've decided to get a red spinel from mastercutgems to wear daily and save the emerald for special occasions. I love the design of the first ring you posted.

For my emerald I really want something Art Deco inspired. I've no idea how to set the spinel yet.
