Cruz won.

http://www.bbc.com/news/world-us-canada-35468776

Texas Senator Ted Cruz has won the Iowa Republican caucuses, the first vote of the US 2016 presidential election.
Businessman Donald Trump was leading in polling ahead of the vote but is likely to finish in second place.
Florida Senator Marco Rubio appears to have performed far better than expected, and will probably finish in third place.
Votes in the Democratic race are still being counted.

With 85% of results in, frontrunner Hillary Clinton and self-proclaimed Democratic socialist Bernie Sanders are less than 1% apart.
Speaking after the results, Marco Rubio congratulated Mr Cruz and said he was the candidate who could unify the divided Republican party.
Just minutes after that, Mr Trump took to another stage where he too congratulated the Texas senator, and said he was "honoured" by the second-place finish.

Trump didn't win. Yay! I was just watching Gwen Ifill discussing this on PBS.

As Republican Sen. Lindsey Graham said about Trump vs. Cruz, "It's like being shot or poisoned."

Haha I agree again. There's no winning for the American people right now IMO. Unless Bloomberg decides to run but even then he has no chance in hell winning. Not a chance so really looking hopeless as to who will be the next President. I don't like any of the choices.

This is what Cruz said in last night's speech:

"Do you want to know what scares the Washington cartel? Actually, not remotely. I don't scare them in the tiniest bit. What scares them is you. What scares them is that old Reagan coalition is coming back together, of conservatives. We're seeing conservatives and evangelicals and libertarian and Reagan Democrats all coming together as one and that terrifies Washington, D.C."

EEEK!!!! Ronald Reagan was dead the last time I checked.

I've been thinking about this actually. Don't you think Bloomberg would have a REALLY good chance of winning in a Sanders V. Trump Scenario? My guess would be that is the scenario he would run in.

I know Sanders Vs. Trump is a very remote possibility, especially after yesterday's result.

What do you do when you do not like any of the candidates?

Vote 'against' the worse one, or 'for' the one you hate the least.

I've barely seen anything about this guy, so I don't have the slightest clue what he is about. I may have to just write my brother in.

I don't understand how a country the size of the US doesn't have a raft of really amazing candidates, can someone explain? Is it all just about money? Or is it a job most don't want?

This morning driving to work I was listening to a local morning radio program. In regards to Ted Cruz, the host stated under a Cruz administration both gay marriage and Roe v Wade will be overturned. Plus 4 Supreme Court justices will be retiring in the new presidents term. These are the issues that scare the S@*! out of me.
Is this possible or merely scare tactics?

For sure. I'm embarrassed that someone with his views is considered a serious contender.

This, and this. Though if I had to choose, it'd probably be Trump as he doesn't seem poised to turn America into a theocracy.

Let's hope this win for Cruz will be like those for Presidents Huckabee and Santorum. :D

This is what I think. First of all I don't think Bloomberg will run. However, even if he does run I know he will not be elected President. Why? Honestly, and I hesitate to write this out loud LOL but the truth is America is not ready for a Jewish (from NYC yet) president. NY is not well liked by people across the country let alone electing a NYer who is Jewish as President. Not going to happen anytime soon. My perspective only. Though I know its of people (who are not Jewish) who strongly agree with this thought that America is not ready to elect Bloomberg for this reason alone.
