Thanks guys to answer your question I'm thinking this in the continuum silver . I have a very(to me) expensive idea for a new e ring and I need to see if a soli large colored stone would work for me

Here's my most recent purchase...a 2.38 unheated montana sapphire. It's my engagement ring stone!
It's my first gemstone purchase that I really researched and took my time buying (2.5 years!!!)

Not yet, but he posted more photos for me. I'm so excited about it! He said the second photo (the one where he's holding it) is more true to its color. This forum has really helped me in my search for natural, unheated stones!

It came. I'm worried if the cut bothers me. At its worst it looks like this, but on the hand it's lovely

The color doesn't speak to me. The cut and size absolutely do, but no, probably not. I'll return it . but gosh I really do love the size.

The concave cut doesn't bother me its that easily spotted tilt window. I think thats just the nature of topaz? I don't know

I think topaz is pretty prone to that. I have a round from Dana that is absolutely lovely but tilt it even slightly and you can really see it.

Yeah, agreed that topaz seems prone to having a tilt window in general. My round cut by doug also shows what looks like a tilt window when I look at it from an angle.

I wore my sphene ring today in a conference I attended as a guest speaker. I rarely wear it since it is so soft, but I thought it look particularly yummy today

Beautiful sphene nojs, it looks beautifully neon and glowy!

Picked up my new ring today! 1.99ct Precision Gem rhodolite garnet set in 14ct yellow gold. It shifts from magenta to purple depending on the light.

Niel - I would've loved your stuller setting for this stone! It's gorgeous.

Thank you! I love it! It suits me perfectly as I prefer simple designs. My local jeweller, Trevor Lester, in Melbourne made it.

Beautiful new ring, ricezo! It looks particularly purple, is it true rhodolite or one of those new purple garnets?

I picked up this supernoval oval Nigerian tourmaline cut by Barry. It's 7.9x6.5mm, 1.74 ct, flawless at 10x, medium/light peachy pink. Barry also told me that it exhibits blue flashes in some lighting, which has only been found in gems cut from Nigerian rough.

I'm technically on a CS ban (it hasn't stopped me from buying pearls and gold jewelry, oops) but I couldn't resist this stone --- I 've been looking for a light pink/peachy/champagne supernova oval for a while now. I couldn't believe it was still on Barry's site when I checked it yesterday on a whim!

Thanks Mochiko, Chrono and Acinom! I'm pretty sure it's just a normal rhodolite but the colour is spectacular. I lucked out on this one! I've worn it every day this week.

Mochiko - that tourmaline looks so soft and lovely! Please post photos once it arrives.
