I think going with a novo type setting will be safer (but I don't love the JA one you posted) than the Michael M. I'm not sure which one Gypsy was recommending (link doesn't work!) but any of the vendors would be able to make a lovely setting in a similar style. Its classic and stunning, and should still come in for less than the Michael m (did I read that correctly - 5k for that setting?).

I think the one gypsy was linking was to my previous post of JA's novo type setting.

Got it. It's certainly much more affordable, leaves you an extra 2k for the diamond!

It's custom make to order for your individual stone. They can make it for anything. And absolutely for a cushion.

Do tell them you want CAD and CAST as method of manufacture if they ask. Handforged will blow your budget. Make sure you get platinum as the metal with pave.

That looks more like hand engraving. These two settings are similar and probably a lot more affordable!

That's hand engraving on a pave cathdral solitaire. Brilliantly Engaged does lovely hand engraving. It's a finishing detail and can be added to just about any setting.

Just show them that, I'm sure they can get something just as nice if not nicer for you. It's a very classic design.
