Custom halo setting by David Klass, please assist

Hi Kathley, ah I totally missed the top view photo as I was on my phone trying to type, etc... By chance, do you recall the height of your halo from finger to diamond & also size of melees? I'm wondering if 7mm would look similar to your setting height.

Btw, your rings so pretty, looks like a flower blooming! That's kind of what I was going for but without the halo melees being too chunky.

Btw, your rings so pretty, looks like a flower blooming! That's kind of what I was going for but without the halo melees being too chunky.

The measurement from where it attaches to the shank to the top of the halo (not top of my diamond) is closer to 5 mm. The melee are 1.5 pts. each. My ring in my avatar picture is magnified a great deal, and in real life, the melee are quite small and delicate. Not chunky at all. And they have a great sparkle presence being that size especially since my OEC throws off bold, colorful flashes. Thank you for your compliments and I look forward to seeing your finished ring!

Michelle your cads are looking amazing, can I ask how much it is costing? (Minus the stone of course)

Also, I am a bit of a novice, why are donuts recommended? What do they add to the ring? It's is just an aesthetic or do they add something practical?

Honestly, i have no idea regarding donuts! I really just listened to Niel's suggestions and honestly the setting looks much nicer than it did when i first got my cads. As for pricing, DK quoted 1650. I have since made so many changes so not sure if the price will remain the same but he hasnt said otherwise and has been super patient and awesome!

The reason for a donut besides aesthetically - they do add structure. Consider that its connected to the shank in multiple spots instead of one singular spot where the halo is connected to the shank when there isn't a halo

It's not odd, they loos very similar! I'd go with your gut. If you can't tell the difference or can't decide, tell him to do whichever will look better with the pave in the basket.
