I had no idea about Alberta Watson. :(

I absolutely loved her as Madeline. She was more interesting to me than Operations, I felt like she was the more complex character.

A few other things -

I just watched You're Not You after seeing it mentioned a few times...OMG tearjerker. It was a nice chance from the tension filled/psychological thrillers I've been watching so much of lately!

I don't know if anyone has mentioned the netflix show Grace and Frankie in here - it's great though, I really liked it. Excellent cast, Lily Tomlin, jane Fonda, Sam Waterston, Martin Sheen. Comedy/drama.

I watched the movie Triangle on amazon (rented it for $3); it's not on netflix. I really liked that one. It's a bit hard to describe and the less you know going in, the better. It's a bit of thriller/horror/nod to Greek mythology/time loop/time travel all mixed into one. Enjoyed it very much. It's got some of the same themes as the movie Coherence, which I mentioned up thread. (I liked Coherence just as well).

Ok have to run, I'll continue to try to add my thoughts in here though, thank you to everyone who contributes in here!! Love reading all of your posts.

HI:

Started to watch "The Fall" and admit to being totally creeped out. Not sure these shows are for me. Even episodes of Scott and Bailey are troubling b/c of the subject matter. Is everything that is "entertaining" freaky and ugly? Guess I am just a sap.

cheers--Sharon

I know what you mean, Sharon. My husband and I watch many dramas and police/detective shows, but I'd love to find a nice, lighthearted show to throw in the mix.

Thanks!

Incidentally, I just started to watch Bloodline. It is very well acted and the scenery--well that just sucks you right in. Kinda compelling!

cheers--Sharon

Any recommendations for indie movies?

I recently watched Mosquita y Mari and I really liked it. A heart warming movie. I'm going to be out of town for the big film festival here, need to fill the gap!

Thanks for that recommendation Black Prophet. I am going to check it out.

Thanks blackprophet! Adding it to my list right now. I get so excited when there are good movies to watch. When I was younger I used to go to the movies at least 3 nights every week and now I don't do that anymore but I still love watching good movies and being able to watch them from the comfort of home is wonderful.

Watched a good one today, it is on Netflix:

Snowpiercer

I can't believe I hadn't heard of it until last week or so. It's great. I don't know, maybe I'm the only one who hasn't heard of it, lol! It has a good cast too.

I had a hard time trying to describe it, so here's a snip from imdb:

"Set in 2031, the entire world is frozen except for those aboard the Snowpiercer. For 17 years, the world's survivors are on a train hurtling around the globe creating their own economy and class system. Led by Curtis, a group of lower-class citizens living in squalor at the back of the train are determined to get to the front of the train and spread the wealth around. Each section of the train holds new surprises for the group who have to battle their way through. A revolution is underway."

I've had that one in my queue for a long time, and my husband is wishy washy about trying it. I guess it will have to be one I watch on my own. I need to get in there and watch stuff tho-I've had other things saved and then if Netflix gets rid of them, I miss them entirely.

Asylum. Just OK. At first it was good but then it degraded into the ordinary and just so so. Cannot recommend this. Natasha Richardson stars in this movie and the premise was very interesting so I had high hopes.

I watched "Welcome to Me" and had a hard time with the fact they (the writers) confused Borderline Personality Disorder with Bipolar.

Hi Tacori, funny you should mention that because I was sort of confused about that label too. I am not in the mental health field however like you are so I just thought I got that wrong but when we were watching the film I thought and even said to my dh that diagnosis doesn't seem right.

Looking up the definition I could see how people not in the field could confuse them but I would have thought the writers would have had some professional assistance regarding that very important diagnosis.

Of course for many movies I have to suspend reality as there are many incongruities/inaccuracies and my dh just tells me to let them go and enjoy the film. But I feel the same way you do when they mess up with topics I know a lot about and it can affect the way I enjoy the film.

Sorry that misdiagnosis took away from your enjoyment of the film. I still enjoyed it and found it quirky and sweet in a weird way. I also love Kristen Wiig. She is a hoot.

We started watching Comet last night. Less than halfway in but so far I am enjoying it and it is a sweet film.

Finally finished that 70s show. Started 3 new ones now haha

Once upon a time - on the 2nd season now. It's actually really good. I remember making fun of it when it was first on TV, but it's addicting.
Mind of a Chef - Anthony Bourdain made this I'm sure, it's pretty interesting. Learning lots about food from around the world
Fresh Prince of Belair - Just a nice classic. For background noise more so :)

I really like Kristen Wiig so I tried to ignore it. Haha. You would think SOMEONE would have caught that major error. There isn't even and medication for personality disorders. Oh well. Her character may have also had borderline but the psychotic symptoms would be related to the bipolar.

"Gimme Shelter" was AMAZING. That's my newest addition to this thread. I also really enjoyed the TV show, "The Riches." I even researched Irish Travelers. Haha. I forgot how much I like Minnie Driver.

We've seen all of those except Aileen. We love watching documentaries. We just watched Tig last weekend. I had never heard of her until then but I really like her. I want to see Welcome to Me next, and my husband just mentioned wanting to watch Documentary Now.

As for more light-hearted shows, we've been watching The Fosters. It's pretty good so far.

Cool, Zoe!

I have a few more on the list, hopefully I'll get to watch 1 or 2 this weekend. :)

I had never heard of Tig before either, and ended up really liking her too.

I have to look up Documentary Now - never heard of it.

If you like cooking for any Food Network shows, watch "Chef's Table" on Netflix.

I found them all amazingly fascinating for totally different reasons.
Except episode 2 "Dan Barber" I found him boring and Arrogant. Worst combo in terms of my watching preferences.

I loved "Chef's Table" too. I agree - fascinating. I liked Dan Barber too!

I keep checking to see if they will release new episodes.

I recently started watching Halt and Catch Fire. I really like it. About a group trying to produce a personal computer back in the 80s.

Also watched Half of a Yellow Sun a while back. A very interesting and well done movie.

Watched 'An Honest Liar' this weekend - so interesting! It's about a famous magician (the amazing randi) and how he tries to disprove psychics/people who say their power is real. And his life in general.
