eternity band -- David Klass? or IDJ? maybe ERD/BE?

Hi everyone,

From reading the forum, people seems to be happy with either IDJ or DK's eternity band. I was wondering if anyone has experience working with both of them before on different projects.

Any advice/wisdom to spare for a custom made one? I am interested in an open basket shared prong setting. Would people recommend getting 3/4 instead of the full so that sizing may be easier down the road?

Thanks!

I have an eternity made by White Flash, who was great--all around perfect vender. It has a small sizing bar, so it is more than a 3/4.

No doubt I'd get one with a small sizing bar, thank goodness I did, it already has been resized. I tried on both a u shaped setting here locally, & found the basket setting sat lower, which I wanted. I attached pics for reference. WF did an amazing job & I love that ring :).

Goodness, Sarah, that is an incredible band! I'd want one just like yours if I were to get one! It is hard to find low settings but WF did a great job on it! What size are the stones (you may have posted before, but I have forgotten the size)?

To the OP, David Klass is a great ringmaker, but what we normally see here is people sending a diamond or gemstone for him to set. I don't know about how it is to have him supply the diamonds. You'd have to be very specific about the cut, color, and clarity you want. I think some are happy with IDJ bands, but I can think of a circumstance where the clarity bothered someone, so I would go with VS stones if I had one made. I'd personally go with Whiteflash due to the fact they are using the best cut and nice color and clarity diamonds. And from this picture, I can see they do a great, low basket setting, and a low setting is very important. The sizing bar is perfect, too.

Thank you 773dianeb & DS!

WF did indeed do a wonderful job, soup to nuts, a great company. The sitting is just right. I also wanted top quality stones, & the WF ACA line fit the bill. This was a holy grail piece for me, & as such, I wanted to get exactly what I wanted--the stones are .50 each, total 6 carats. Those ACA's are wild--the sparkle factor is off the charts.

Sarahb - thanks so much for posting pictures of your lovely eternity band! WF did an excellent job and the sizing bar idea is great.:)

DS- thanks you for providing insight into the two vendors. I guess it is always a balance between budget and quality.

Would like to hear others' option on custom made eternity band.

Thanks!

Hi! I had ERD/BE make me my dream eternity, using 25 pointers (total weight of 4.5), set in platinum. I thought I had wanted a U-prong so that's what I had made. After living with it for a year I just wasn't happy with it, it wasn't terribly comfortable and just felt too big. So I had Mark remake it in a shared prong style, set very low. I used Sarah's ring as inspiration for the reset and Mark did an amazing job. My new setting is so insanely comfortable, it's amazing. Since the setting is lower and I made it a bit smaller (plus added the sizing bar), I had 3 diamonds left over, which Mark took back and gave me a credit. So my new total weight is 3.75. The diamonds he hand selected are amazing, I can see H&A's in every stone.

Here's the original setting:

Thank you asscher_girl for your input. :wavey: It's nice to see the difference betweeen the u-prong and the shared prong settings.

IDJ is amazing. They did my band and I couldn't be happier. Mine is a 1/2 eternity for sizing reasons mostly. I find 3/4 to be a little less symmetrical and it bugs me whereas 1/2 looks uniform, just a personal quirk though.
