I just weighed myself for the first time in maybe a year and I'm 20 pound lighter than I thought. :o
This was surprising and strange since I don't look any slimmer.

It got me wondering how often people weigh themselves.

You?

During my crazy thin years it was daily if not twice a day.

Now it's once a week on a day that was pretrashed already.

As of half a year ago, I started to weigh myself "almost daily" which is not one of the choices. Basically, 5-6 days out of the week at the gym. I read somewhere that those who weigh themselves regularly maintain their weight better, so I have started to monitor my weight, so I don't surprise myself (15lb weight gain over the course of a year, from not monitoring).

Good point but in my case if I noticed I was losing weight I may have eaten more and moved less and not dropped 20 pounds in a year.
... "Hey, I'm down 4 pounds, maybe I'll reward myself by ordering that pie for dessert."

Lately it's been daily. I feel a little obsessed. I had a Mirena put in and except for pregnancy, I have never been heavier in my life. :wall: I am having it removed in about a week. Then I will probably weigh myself everyday with hopes that the weight will fall off.

Weekly.

Speaking of weight, someone at the hospital added 12 pounds to my weight which ticked me off.
But I did make sure that the neuroanesthesiologist knew my correct weight because I knew that it made
a difference for the amount of drugs that we administered while I was under general anesthesia.

When I got home after 5 days and weighed myself, I had lost two pounds.

I like to do it daily but usually get to busy. That way if the weight is up like 3 to 4 days I know it's time to cut back. Cut back
early before you put on too much!

Good for you Kenny! 20lbs is a great deal!

It has been some time.... I gauge by the way my work pants or jeans for me. At present they fit quite snuggly- who am I kidding- they are a bit tight! lol.

Last June I bought new work pants cos I couldn't fit into the old ones! By December they were getting snug... Now they are still snug fit... So as u can tell I am quite motivated to change my eating habits! NOT!

Soon, I may do...

Twice a day - upon getting up and before I go to bed.

About 8 years ago I lost 30 extra pounds that I had been carrying for quite a while. When I was in the process of losing I couldn't wait to weigh myself in the morning. Now I do it out of habit. It's reassuring for me to see that even if I had a "big eat" day, it doesn't make a huge difference in one day and I know I'll go back to my regular routine tomorrow. The before bed weigh-in is just because the scale is there, basically. I always weigh a couple pounds more at the end of the day than I do at the beginning, so I consider my weight to be the average of the two.

Last year at my yearly physical the nurse who took my height and weight claimed I was two inches shorter than I thought I was! This upset me a great deal more than if she had told me I weighed 50 pounds more - I can lose weight but can't gain height. I asked her if she was sure and she insisted. I'm old enough to be worrying about osteoporosis. I made my doctor measure my height again and the nurse was wrong, thank goodness.

Maybe I was 20 pounds lighter because I wasn't wearing my huge Octavia. :wink2:

We don't own a scale anymore, so I only get weighed when I go to the doctor's office - otherwise, I just judge if I'm gaining/losing by the way my clothes fit.

Wow, with twice as many votes as the Weekly Ladies The Daily Ladies lead.

Curious here, what is the most it has changed in one day?
One pound?
Two?
Three?

Giving birth doesn't count!

Once a month. I get drug infusions monthly (now Orencia) and they need a weight to calculate dosage. In 5 years it has gone up and down 40 pounds depending on medicines and steroids. And pain/no pain, etc. It has been a good lesson for me in accepting things you have little control over.

Same here. I know if I have gained or lost lbs by the way my clothes fit (or don't fit lol) and don't weigh myself except for when I go to my doctor's office.

Rarely; I guess my weight by the tightness/looseness of my clothing. The only reason we own a scale is because DH said every household has one.

When I competed, it was pretty much daily, especially when I was training heavy and trying to get in a certain weight class. Nowadays, not so much! My weight has never dictated how fat I was, only fat did that

These days I jump on the scale when I think about it. Maybe once a month or so, and it still doesn't tell me anything I didn't already know.

Unexplained weight loss is a very nasty symptom. Have you been to the doc lately, Kenny?

Ha! I wish. With my last kid I gave birth to an 8lb baby and when I got home from the hospital I had only lost only 2lbs. They pump you full of a lot of IV fluid.
