Love the colour on your new amethyst DK! I snagged one of JD's recent ones too (although sadly not the one I wanted most ). From the pics and videos he has been cutting some rough with particularly nice rich colour. Looking forward to seeing yours in hand!

I also really like the first more "masculine" inspiration ring above for your gunmetal spinel. It has such a nice balance between modern and classic, and would look really nice with a grey stone I think.

I am on an amethyst/aqua/blue topaz/zircon hunt at the mo, and JD has some nice ones listed.

Ooo, to add to my list of "long term" project, I would like a nice deep pink (not as saturated as my JW rubellite) oval stone about 12mm x 10mm.

Tempted re: Doug's topaz roughs, however, I am eyeing other topazes already on JD's site, therefore, I need to exert some self=control!

Besides, I already got another aqua and a trillion blue zircon lined up for next year (I forgot about the latter on my near future list, DOH!), therefore no more pale/neon blue stones for a while, unless they are within reach.

Re: the grey spinel, I would probably have it set exactly like the inspiration ring with the pave diamonds in place, to give a bit of added bling, yet not too much for work wear.

JD keeps listing gorgeous and affordable amethysts, what am I to do?!

It is currently being revised, as there are new developments, such as having conversations with JD about his ring setting products and services.

The RH amethyst is definitely going to be set next though.

Not sure if I would have the square aqua sent to me un-set, however, that's something to be decided later.

Quality comes at a price, and I do not expect JD's settings to be different.

Hence I am likely to send him my nicer stones to be set in more elaborate rings, and not the ones destined for day to day work wear.

The pair of amethysts are too small as earrings for me, otherwise I would have bought them too as they are lovely!

This one is mine, a heart cut blue zircon from JD, 3.76ct, 9.07 x 10 x 6.36mm:

I am waiting to hear from JD about the setting for the RH amethyst, and am likely to ask him to set this one for me as it should not be too costly as it is quite plain.

Another JD amethyst, lighter in colour, however, it is a square step cut with corners and I just cannot resist:



Also purchased an electric blue topaz square step cut with corners, still to be cut, and Jeff reckons the rough may yield a 9mm+ stone when finished.
