Colour perception game/test

This is a nice little game that tests how good you are at detecting subtle differences in colour, something we all encounter with gems. You have to select the odd colour tile out, and it gets progressively harder to see the differences. You have 60 seconds to go as far as you can. Try it out. :)

First time I did it I got 37, second time 29. I don't know if those are good or bad scores.

Wow - this made me realize something. I have a harder time distinguishing differences in pinks and purples. No wonder so many of the hot pink spinels look the same to me!

This is addictive, 25 then it's downhill from there! I'm going to try again. :shifty:
Seems to be harder for me to spot the difference in purples and blues.

I just got 25. My work monitor is kind of crappy. I am going to try this at home on my ipad and see if it makes a difference.

The key is to turn down the brightness on your monitor a bit. ;))

With age, apparently, your perception of blues and greens diminishes quicker than other colours. What's clear to me is when I do this new test that I struggle more with the blues - which makes sense. I've now got 36 but this new test is tough!

Hi,

This teaches me that I had better bring someone much younger with better eyesight than myself, IF i WANT A TOP COLOR GEMSTONE, ALTHOUGH i THINK NOW THAT MAY BE A WASTE ON ME. =) Age is a bi***. =)

I got a 32, but my monitor is old.

So are my eyes :D I kept looking at the clock and I definitely had more problems with some colors than others. I got stuck on a green one and wasted a lot of time, then did a few after that easily. I probably shouldn't buy emeralds. The other color test I got a 0.

I got a 28 the first and only time I took this test and now my eyes are hurting me. I need a new glasses Rx for sure everything was getting pretty blurry by the end of that very long minute LOL. For all the presbyopes out there I bet you will do better with an accurate glasses Rx if you need one.

Thanks for sharing it LoversKites.

I got 32. I took the old test and scored a 0. I don't think I did so well the last time but I didn't wear reading glasses then.

I remember some years ago many of us did a color test

http://www.xrite.com/online-color-test-challenge

I remember when I did this. My score was 4 and my mistakes were in the blue-green spectrum.

Same here, and that's my favorite color range, too.

I remember wondering if our "favorites" tend to develop in color ranges where we have a harder time distinguishing impurity of color, LOL

Oh, and I found it fun and a bit addictive - but then again, I'm easily amused. :))
