AGS Certificate- only have the duplicate, should it matter?

Hi all,
I bought my beautiful AGS certified diamond ring 5 years ago from the US. I'm about to get my ring valued and I only have the duplicate report from AGS. The valuer said it's your diamond and it's important to have the original.
What is your opinion of this?
Should I ask for the original from the seller?
It was 5 years ago and I don't know if they would still have it?

It would not hurt to ask the seller if they still have it. It won't do them any good to keep it! In the likely event that they do not have it, you could contact AGSL. They may be able to supply you a duplicate of the original.
