I've never shopped on RL before, but I love antique & vintage jewelry so when I read about it on PS, I had to check it out. I have my eye on several pieces of jewelry and a few have "Make Offer".

I want to get a great deal if I can obviously, but don't know if my offer is too low or if I could've gone lower.

Ex. if a seller is offering a diamond cocktail ring for $650, would offering $500 be appropriate?

What kind of offers have you offered and were accepted?

I offered list price less 10% (it was a very inexpensive piece). It was accepted and I bought the ring.

If it had been over $1000 I would've started at 20% off.

Some of these sellers are kind of mom & pops and have a tight margin....

Start with $500.00 and if it is too low they will get back to you ie haggle. Most vendors either accept or haggle until everyone is happy.

Hi arkieb1,
I just picked a piece on Monday in NY from a seller who has items on Ruby Lane. That is where I found my opal ring. There was only a buy it now price. I called her and she came down 15%. It does include 1 free sizing if I decide to do it at some time in the future. I wasn't sure which finger I would be wearing my ring on.
