Hi every one I found three diamonds I like from those two company and I would like your expertise on helping me select the best diamond. The only thing concerns me about james allen is the AGS report. The report is from 2010, is it good or bad? I would greatly appreciate it if you kindly give me some feedback on those three diamond.

The James Allen stone is a very nice stone but not up to an ACA stone (with respect to the H&A).

Can you explain your logic on picking 2 stones that are about $30k and another stone that is about $15k? What are your
priorities?

Define "best quality". Colorless and fewer inclusions doesn't mean the diamond will sparkle more - it's all about the cut.

Best quality should be a balance dependant on budget. d, if, ideal, most carat is best quality. Most professional diamond experts say it should be in the order of Cut then Colour then Clarity which all three together determine Carat weight due to budget. I have read you should aim for Best cut ideal or very good, g or h color, vs2 or si1 clarity and this determines carat due to money at his disposal when getting engagement ring. With more money you can up the first three C,s and get larger over time if it is not the engagement ring or if you are rich for the engagement ring first time like those in Hollywood do :wall: Lots on here are not buying engagement rings though so opt for carat weight, and cut on pattern and then get color or clarity which is usually set by budget depending on size of stone. Old cuts are in fashion again.

Most people will not have best quality because there are other things to spend money upon. I would buy a small vvs stone but not a large one just to get that quality but my bigger diamond would be vs, same with d; larger diamond f or g, would want ideal or Gia Ex if chosen by diamond angles and carat weight upon budget. So I'd have a half carat d vvs1 ideal I would buy myself and a 1 carat or above on other grades I mentioned for my engagement ring. Everyone chooses their own level of quality or has it chosen for them by their budget or other priorities in life. I have heard the old rich just wear small rings or plain wedding bands because they don't have to try or show off to anyone and have their own communities where they are all as rich as each other.

Super easy choice between these three:

http://www.whiteflash.com/loose-diamonds/round-cut-loose-diamond-3063776.htm

I think in general that ACA cut standards will be higher than those of the other stone from seeing discussions on this topic multiple times.

If I wanted a colorless, high clarity stone, I honestly would go to around F VS1, because you probably can't tell it apart from the D IF-VVS2. But if your desire is to have the best cut, D color, then absolutely please go with VVS and get the largest stone you can.

For the avoidance of doubt these should not be looked at as an investment.

I agree with DS about lowering color and clarity unless you really want D Vvs. You can get more stone for quite a bit less money. Here are a couple examples of how you could save around $10k and get a bigger rock that is very well cut, still colorless, and perfectly eye clean.

Here is one from JA but it does have medium blue fluorescence. Not sure what your thoughts are on that. I don't like it as much as the previous two but since you are looking at JA I figured I would point it out.

Personally, I would go lower in color and clarity for more size, but if I had to chose between these 3, it's a no-brainer. I would go with the 15k stone. Why? Because its an awesome cut. Because it will look just as great and will be just as beautiful as the more expensive stones, regardless of what your definition of beautiful is.As you see on the other threads, advocates for the brandname superideal stones almost sound poetic when romantisizing light performance and using nonscientific measurements to justify why you should pay more than 10k for the same diamond. Buy the 15k diamond, use the 10-15k you saved, take a trip to houston, visit NASA, the museums, Pappas steakhouse, go to sugarland and see that your 15k diamond will look just as great as the 30k stone you didnt buy. Then go to one of the many great tacquerias in Houston and have a few carne asada tacos and coronas to celebrate being a smart shopper. Just because you can afford to spend 30k doesnt mean you should if you can get the same beautiful stone for half the price. Dont buy into the hype, look at the stones for yourself, youll make the right decision.
