Hello!

I've been reading the forums for a few days here and love the conversations, despite the fact that many are about larger diamonds and I'm in the market for a diamond band and already have my main stone.

Once in a while in my searches I'll see a 7/9 stone band or eternity that's what I'm looking for but not necessarily within our price range. Perhaps someone can help me find the best deal with the best diamonds.

I found the ring of my dreams at a local store. Custom fit to sit against my solitaire (1.33c J color) for $1200:

Then shopping at a local Shane Company found a comparable style that had the look I was going for for only $595:

Link: http://www.shaneco.com/detail/round-diamond-wedding-band/41002230/?O=PRODSEARCH&nid=GN_Header_Search_Button

And it's slightly larger friend for $750:

Link: http://www.shaneco.com/detail/classic-round-diamond-wedding-set/41045749/?O=PRODSEARCH&nid=GN_Header_Search_Button ($750 without the e-ring)

If I can find it I'd like something similar for at/under $1000. I've looked at the eternity bands at ID jewelry because I was inspired by this thread: https://www.pricescope.com/community/threads/my-7-stone-shared-prong-band-from-idj.199090/........... I would be happy with the Shane Co bands but feel like that wouldn't be getting the best deal for the $$. I'd love some guidance and/or search terms from someone with more experience :read: than I have. The wedding is June 2015.

Thanks so much!

HI, Tammy, would you kindly clarify something for us: "eternity" commonly refers to a band/ring with diamonds all the way around -- is that what you'd most like or do you prefer a ring set with just enough diamonds to be seen across the top or wrapping down a bit around the finger? Also, would you like this to have diamonds close in color to your e-ring's pretty, center stone or of higher color or the color makes no difference to you?

P.S. Out of curiosity, how did the Shane sales assisstant describe the color and clarity of the diamonds in those 2 rings you tried on? When you click on the Item Details tab on the web page for each one, all Shane tells you is that they are round diamonds

Molly,

Thanks so much for the reply. The 'Eternity' style appeals to me the most because the small, petite look of the smaller band looks delicate even on my large fingers! I've also seen similar looks in the 7/9 stone bands in posts on this forum. I think if the band looked delicate enough I'd be happy whether it went all around or not. I will be getting them soldered within the first year to cut down on wear to both bands, so I'm not sure that going all the way around will be that important over time (correct me if I'm wrong!).

I definitely want the color of the stones in the band to match the e-ring closely enough that the e-ring continues to look white to the naked eye. The sales associate at the Shane company said that their diamonds were of the G/H color rating but came without certificates because they don't certify smaller diamonds. Shane company made me feel comfortable in store but I noticed the same as you did- that there isn't much information on the diamonds themselves via the Shane link. I'd much rather go through a reputable online dealer if I thought I could get what I'm looking for! Thanks for the questions, and I really hope this forum can steer me in the right direction! I love the look of these bands together but shopping for diamonds is new to me :appl:

Here's the 9-stone I'm looking at.

id_u_prong.jpg

I have a quote from Luann for "$875 with pricescope quality diamonds FG color SI clarity". I'm thinking this would be a MUCH better option than the Shane Co ring but I haven't had luck finding images of this one next to a solitaire.

Still on the hunt!

The Shane ring and the 9 stone you posted are very different styles. The Shane ring appears to only have one prong between each diamond, whereas the 9 stone has double prongs and almost u-shaped baskets for each stone. How low would the ring from IDJ actually sit? I would worry about those prongs interfering with your e-ring.

Edited to add: the one from Shane looks like a knock-off of the Memoire Purity collection: http://memoire.com/catalog/collections.aspx?collection=172

Thanks so much for the link to the memoire collection! You are right about the rings being very similar.

The height of the ID ring is what I was concerned about. I sent a reply to Luann to see what the finished size would be to see if it would fit beneath the prongs on the e-ring.

This shows my inexperience. I didn't think to ask. Thanks for the information on what to call it. That's what I'll do next!

A really nice pre loved just came up on Loupe Troop. Not sure of your size but thought of this post when I saw the listing. If you don't mind pre-loved from ID Jewelry

http://loupetroop.com/listings/bands/eternity-3-sided-pave-diamond-band

Mayk,

Thank you so much for taking the time to share the link! I'm not much a fan of the pave look and prefer the prongs there to space it out. However, I'm not against a pre-loved band if it's the look I'm going looking for!

I've spent much of the day looking at the options thanks to the search terms provided today. Thank you, thank you!

Some of the ones I'm considering:
1. If I can stretch my budget a lot:
http://memoire.com/catalog/collections.aspx?collection=172

2. The prongs on this one are exactly what I'm looking for!
http://www.bluenile.com/diamond-ring-white-gold_17404?elem=title&track=product

3. How I'd like the prongs to look:
http://www.briangavindiamonds.com/w...nds/half-moon-eternity-18k-white-gold-5393w18

4. And another runner up:
http://www.whiteflash.com/wedding-rings/diamonds-for-an-eternity-1-2-diamond-wedding-band-1391.htm

5. Luann at ID Jewelry quoted me for a half band as well but I want to call her and see if she can space the diamonds similar to links 2 and 3 above. Her photo she sent me is more similar to the WhiteFlash ring but I think I prefer to have extra spacing.

Anyone have any of the rings from above and have pros/cons? I realized today that I might be rough on my rings, as I don't take them off to shower or do dishes. Would that affect my choice?

I don't think an eternity would be good if you are hard on your rings and never take them off.

I'm no expert, but the single-prong style doesn't seem to be the best choice if you rarely take your rings off. Showering shouldn't be a problem, but if you're doing other house cleaning, even light gardening, schlepping grocery bags... a lot of everyday activities could exert pressure on your ring and loosen a stone. With only two prongs holding it in place, there's very little to prevent a loose stone from becoming a lost stone.

Of course soldering your rings together, if you do go that route, would offer the eternity band some additional stability. To my mind that has its own set of issues, such as less versatility and more difficulty cleaning and maintaining the eternity band.

Thanks for the feedback! I might just have to change my attitude toward wearing my ring. I have a friend who takes hers off all the time and is constantly misplacing it. I've always assumed I'd keep it on at all times. I guess I'd like a ring that looks delicate but is not likely to lose stones if I'm out backpacking with it on. Maybe I'm asking for too much!
