I am looking at the following cushion diamonds from Brian Gavin. Which one would be a better purchase?

If there are other better options, feel free to include them.

Of these two, I would certainly choose the larger of the two. Are you specifically looking for hearts and arrows cushions?

Other sources of nice modern cushions would be Good Old Gold and Brilliantly Engaged. You do have to evaluate each stone individually and the ASET images are helpful.

I am not limiting my options to H&A cushions. As I am still very new in all these, how does the larger BG diamond compared to the Mark T cushions? Would be great if you could help provide some perspectives on what to look out for and how to compare them.

The Mark T cushions are special in that they are cut by an excellent cutter that specializes in really beautiful designs. This cutter actually cut the diamond in my avatar picture, but my stone was from Good Old Gold. This same cutter also cuts GOG's August Vintage Cushions, which are ideal cut antique style cushions. I really love those as well but didn't link them earlier because it looked like you were wanting a modern cushion. But here they are if you want to see more stones that Yoram has cut.

I'd have to compare the pricing to know which direction I would go in. If you link the stones you like most, I would be happy to give you my personal opinion of which I like best and hopefully others will as well.

I will add that it looks like the only Mark T cushion that appears to be in your budget is a .87 F SI2, and while it is a beautiful stone, I could not handle the large feather (crack) inclusion. So I don't think that option will work.
