Earring studs: What size OECs?

Hi everyone,

I am interested in eventually getting a pair of OEC/AVR studs. I saw a pair on Carolyn Murphy on TV once and I couldn't take my eyes off of the bold flashes (in fact, I kept replaying shots of her earrings ). At what size would people be able to notice the differences in faceting structure of OECs vs. the faceting of MRBs? I also have tiny earlobes, so I wouldn't want to go too large, plus there are the obvious cost limitations with larger carat weights.

I don't know about earrings but I know that I can easily see the difference (and facet pattern) at 6 mm in a ring. At 5 mm, it is harder to distinguish the pattern but you can tell the flash is bigger/different.

I have 1/3 carats and 8/10 carats each and feel like the differences in chunky light can be seen in even the smaller ones but it's much more apparent in the larger diamonds.
