Somebody's Gotta Buy This Stone!

So I was browsing around, as I do, looking at things I can't afford, and I stumbled onto this topaz at pala:



And... I would really like to see that pretty sunset thing set somehow. Someone here should buy it so I can watch.

That stone has been at Pala for years. On another forum, I made "The Stone(s) Of The Day" thread. It was "SOTD" a couple different time. Lovely!

I've enjoyed the SoTD thread too. Perhaps the shape is what's holding it back but I think it makes for a very unique piece of jewellery.

After I posted it I found their blog entry with it as the featured stone - from a few years ago. I did just buy a megamillions ticket. If that comes through I know what my first frivolous purchase will be, LOL It really looks just like the beautiful sunsets I used to see on the farm.

Then why is it on their website for years? If it were so desirable, it would have sold, even for an outrageous amount of money.

There's some nice bicolor tourmalines with a pink/orange look to them on this page if people want to emulate that look, and these would be easier to set, as I worry about the fragiliy of the tip of that Pala stone.

Totally agree with this. Its not that Pala is not "worried," its that their pockets are sufficiently deep to accommodate stones like this one sitting around in their inventory without being sold. But clearly they will do something to move it along eventually since it isn't selling.

No one is disputing the Pala gem is rare for a topaz, but I just wanted to post more affordable options since people liked that "sunset" look, and this is a "Somebody's Gotta Buy This Stone" thread. Not a lot of people can afford to buy that stone.

I am really tempted and really surprised, as I know the price she paid for the stone itself was considerably higher. This is Tajik spinel - higher in price than many but worth it!
