What would be the reason(s)?

bigger size? higher clarity? higher color? different shape? better cut?

Hypothetically speaking, bigger size or different shape would be reasons to upgrade for me!

Shape and size and lower clarity.

I'd go for a the largest cushion I could afford. I'd keep the color either colorless (I have an F) or go down to G.. possibly H.

Ideally I'd prefer an oval but DH doesn't like them.

Larger size & higher color. I would love a 2ct G-H EC in a simple solitaire.

HI:

Technically speaking an "upgrade" would be higher color and clarity and half or a third of my current size. I would change back to a RB, D/E/F color and IF--might consider VVS1. No Flouro.

cheers--Sharon

Bigger, baby, bigger :naughty:

I'd go up in size and clarity and happily drop colour a notch or two. My "ideal cut" for RBs is not the same as what most longtime PSers prefer - I love a super steep crown (37+), so... no chance of me purchasing from the usual H&A/Signature lines, sadly; I'd love to buy with the backing of those sorts of generous trade-in/upgrade policies.

I would want slightly bigger and a grade better in color.

I have a 1.25 H VS and I would love to go to 1.4-1.5 G VS.

I know the experts will say that it probably doesn't make much sense to pay for little difference up that little in size or to pay for a G when I have an H... but this has always been the dream for me

If it never happens, I won't be sad though. I love my current stone.

If it does happen, well, it would be EPIC!

Different shape (OEC or transitional)
Better faceting (better cut)
Bigger stone

I could down grade on color and clarity!

Is it gonna happen? Probably not!

I am truly happy with my super recent upgrade but if money wasn't an issue and I could upgrade again, I'd keep everything the same and go up in clarity. ;-)

My pride and joy is my 1.19ct E VS1 EC that I wear as a RHR that is my 40th birthday present to myself. If I were to upgrade, I would go larger.

However, I cannot afford to go significantly larger in time for my 50th celebration next year, and the stone has significant sentimental value. Hence I am going down the route of having it re-set instead, in a diamond halo with an air line and a plain shank.

DK :))

hmm, not gonna happen, but I'd go BIGGER. I'm happy with the diamond though, it's 1.7, G, eye-clean SI1, 60/60 but good light return

maybe I'd get a more traditional ideal cut since mine can go dark in certain lighting.

I think 2.5ct is the biggest I'd go, I have a size 4.5 finger

I have a 3.01 F-SI1 pear e-ring and a 2.21 F-SI1 Crafted by Infinity on the way so I'm pretty happy.
But IF I were to upgrade, I guess it would be to a 3+ ct F-SI1 CBI? I wonder how much that costs?

I'd get the biggest i could afford. I am going to upgrade whether i have to pay for it all myself or hubby will help but I'm planning on going to the biggest id like (3-3.5ct) and then thats it.And it'd be a OMC, OEC, or AVC in a warmer colour. Really id just be happy with a bigger e-ring. who knows if it'll ever happen :wall:

Seriously, I love everything about my stone, but I could always go bigger.

If a 2.6ct F/G VS2 was available, and if I had the money then I'll do it, but too many IFs...

Not lunchtime it is bedtime... :snore:

I would go bigger, I sometimes think of selling my ring and switching to a RB.

For me, it probably would be for a different look, foremost. I have MRBs (including an ACA), and I'd upgrade for an AVC, an OEC, or a really yummy emerald.

Bigger. Possibly transitional cut or OEC instead. And I don't have an e ring, but single gals like diamonds too.

Actually just upgraded for cut and shape less than a week ago. Current ring is 2.03 carat GIA H VS2 princess which I still love. I was really missing a RB since I had worn one for 30 years, so I was just spoiled with a 1.21 carat ACA H SI1 RB. I just can't believe how beautiful the cut is.

I just recently did this. I upgraded my original e-ring from 20 years ago. I upgraded size and to a better cut, and a different type of cut (AVR). My main motivation for the upgrade was setting style, and relationship changes that caused the old ring not to "feel" right anymore.

At this point I am very happy with my four C's, but I could see myself changing setting style again someday in the far distant future. I won't change centre stones though, since I get sentimental and attached...but that's not to say that my AVR couldn't acquire some friends over the years. ;-)
