Hello Pricescope. I have been following this section for a little while now trying to learn what I can about Colored Stones. I am looking for an unheated round blue sapphire to create an engagement ring with. My budget is 4.5k for the stone. I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions for stones or an opinion of the a couple stones I have been looking at online. My plan is to get the stone first and then create or chose a setting based on it.

Thanks,

Pat

Are you in the US or in a different country?

I can't find any unheated camelot-cornflower blue sapphire in any PS trusted vendor.

This one is pretty good:

2.04ct heated ceylon sapphire

try to negotiate the price

Thanks for the help liao. I may have to just wait patiently for one to pop up or expand my wants. Unheated is a firm. I know round sapphires are harder to find may consider ovals.

Yes I would consider both Prince of wales blue and Royal blue.

I agree with both points. I am having difficulty trying to find the right stone due to your requirements. Either the budget has to be increased, accept heat, stone size is decreased, colour quality dropped, or any combination of those mentioned.

Would a budget increase to 8k make it more feasible or do I need more? I want something at least 6.5 mm for a round sapphire.

I talked with my SO and i think she is okay with heat only stones now. What are thoughts on this stone?

do you love that color? the color of the stone does not seem to be evenly distributed. Since you said you came afford 8k worth of sapphire, I recommend you to get a better stone.

Agreed, since the budget is upped and heat is on the table, let's look for something better. I have to prep for a meeting but will come back in an hour or so.
