Hi, I am hoping someone might be able to help me date this stunning old brooch for me. It belonged to my great grandmother and i believe it to be an amethyst and pearls set in 15ct gold. No hallmark but there is a mark stating the gold is 15Ct... The brooch was made by Carrington & Co of Regents street. London and it says on the inside of the box "To his Majesty the King and Her Majesty Queen Alexandra". If possible I would also like to know n approximate valuation just in case I need to insure it. Please click the link below for the photo. Thanks for any help in advance

Carrington and Co. has a website, with a link to contact them directly.
http://www.carringtonandcompany.com/

According to an ebay guide, 15ct gold was discontinued as an English standard in 1932.

What a beautiful brooch!

King Edward and Queen Alexandra were coronated in August 1902, and King Edward VII was king until he died in 1910.

Most English jewelry has a hallmark that will tell you the exact date.

Here is a link to the British assay office with the date marks from 1773 to present day.

Not sure what it's worth, you may want to ask around among various antique jewelry dealers, such as Langs, they have a website.

You can also try www.valuemystuff.com I've used them on some art work recently, and notice they have a jewelry appraisal service as well.
