Re: The Official TTC Thread!

Well I'm 14 DPO so I will know for sure before we leave. Sigh.

I had a terrible night of sleep last night but I've always read that will give you a higher read rather than a lower one. I guess I will see what tomorrow's temp says. I'm pretty well resigned to this just not being it so if it turns out differently things can only go up from here.

Re: The Official TTC Thread!

Ladies, need some advice here. :wavey:

I've just started using an OPK kit and according to my ovulation cycle phone app I should be fertile this week (YAY!) but i work looong hours so I'm up at 5am and home after 7:30pm so I tested when I got up this morning (BTW both lines same colour = go for it right?) but now I've read the instructions more thoroughly and all mention testing between 10am - 3pm which seems rather impossible for me...I seriously just cannot do fiddly piddle testing in the toilets at work!  What can I do? Can I test at night instead?

I'm scared of missing my vital window! :errrr:

What brand are the OPKs? Some specifically say to avoid FMU and others don't. Also, some brands need the lines to be the same color and others need the test line darker. I always used FMU and never had an issue.

Sorry I'm pretty new to all this - not sure what FMU is....

I'm using this one: http://www.mybodytalk.com.au/index.php?product=3 Instuctions say "Specimen Collection and Preparation Collection Time - Collect urine once per day, at about the same time each day, between 10:00 AM and 8:00 PM" so I'll try again this evening as soon as I get home, thought it was earlier in the day. Phew...

Also says: "A test band of equivalent or greater colour intensity than the control band is a positive result, which indicates LH is present in the test sample, and suggests that the LH surge is occurring. A test band of lesser colour intensity than the control band is considered a negative result, and indicates that the LH surge is not occurring". The red band closest to the green end is the test, the other is the result. I have a photo (sorry bit gross I know!) and hubby and I agreed it looks at least the same strength so hopefully that means I'm ovulating? What do you think?

Thank you. I really appreciate it.

Part of me has been freaked out for a while. As in, it took me well over six months after the m/c to get DH on board with trying for another and I'm now over 37, what if it takes forever due to age or the first pregnancy was a major, major fluke. So in a way, I'm glad to know things work, even though it didn't stick.

Re: The Official TTC Thread!

HotPozzum, I use wondfo opks which don't have the testing hours restrictions. I test morning and before going to bed to make sure I don't miss it because testing at work is also inconvenient for me. I'd say the test you posted is positive. Fmu=first morning urine.

That is positive, so definitely time to get it on.

Sorry to read about your mc. Are you working with a RE? This is not to scare or freak you out but my OB's opinion is that an average 37yo needs some sort of assistance getting pregnant especially if it's the first one. Again, this is his opinion but I would hate for you to miss the window if you haven't spoken to a specialist already.

I'm not ready to go that route yet. I'd much rather see how things go. I don't know if family history has any bearing but my mother got pregnant three times after 40. Two ended in m/c, but still.

April, I'm so sorry about your loss. Thinking of you. Hope you can enjoy your vacation.

HotPozzum, hope you got in some good BD!

Tourmaline, and baby monster, how are you two? Where are you in your cycles?

Afm, my plan to not track on vacation has left me stumped about O date. Guessing it was day 13 or 14 but don't know for sure. What do you think?

No way to tell for sure due to the missing temps. I'd go with the latest day possible for testing purposes.

ETA- id go with cd15 based on your negative OPK that day.

Sorry, can't help with this chart question. I'd go with average day you typically O.

I'm on CD6. Next week is prime time :))

Re: The Official TTC Thread!

Thanks AMC, good call on going with the latest possible. By that calc I should get AF mid next week. I did test this morning, can't help myself, but it was a BFN. I know I'm not out yet, but not feeling great about this cycle. We really need to get better timing, and next cycle goal is going to be every other day consistently. Between having a 2 year old and DH being on meds that can make BD sessions on the long side, it's hard to carve out the time, but if we want a second kiddo I guess we better suck it up. I know, poor me, complaining about having to have more sex.

Baby monster, hope you are gearing up for prime time!

Hi everyone else!

Stephbolt, longer is always better in my book ;))

AFM, feeling a bit frustrated. DH went out with the boys twice this past week even though we agreed on no drinking for this cycle. He says it's not a big deal because he only had couple of drinks but I don't want drunk sperm :nono:. So now I don't know if I want to try next week.

Sure enough, AF arrived yesterday. Onto the next cycle.

Babymonster, I'm sorry your DH went back on your agreement to abstain from drinking. Did you decide to still try this cycle?

I thought for sure a vacation would give you a boost, steph.

I actually got a positive opk today and DH wants to go forward. He hasn't had any drinks in almost a week and thinks I'm overreacting.

Does he have any issues with his swimmers? Is he a heavy drinker? Honestly, I don't really see what the big deal is. Unless an RE or urologist told him not to drink for sperm health issues, then why not? Obviously I don't know the background...

It's more of my general paranoia about birth defects. Nobody really knows how alcohol affects sperm DNA and at what dose.

That's true. But sperm has a 3 month month production cycle so unless he quit months ago it probably doesn't matter right now.

I don't post often but I read all the TTC and pregnancy threads. I had a hard time convincing my husband to cut back on drinks, even after he was diagnosed with severe male factor infertility. This is a new study that shows the correlation between alcohol and sperm quality. Hope it helps.

Yes, that was big news last week. Interesting study.

He's a social drinker and all his buddies like knock back a couple so 3 months is very hard. In any case, he convinced me so 2ww is on.

Re: The Official TTC Thread!

OK everyone fingers crossed for me. It's been 2 weeks since the main event and I'm due to get my period mid-this week.

So far I've had some odd symptoms including feeling totally starving but the taste & smell of any hot food seriously making me want to throw up  Spent most of yesterday feeling like I want to hurl but unable to. Also quite bloated and verrrry tired - like exhausted. All of these could easily be PMS symptoms too so this is probably just wishful thinking at this stage... :(sad

I don't want to take a test yet (too early?) so now the agonising wait until the end of the week to see if yay or nay... :wall:

The cute thing is how excited my husband was when i told him I was feeling sick  He was like "OMG awesome" yet I was :knockout:

Nooooooooo wait. Don't even bother crossing those fingers. Aunt Flow literally just arrived 3 days early. ;( WTF I shouldn't have even written anything - it's like a jinxed it myself. :blackeye: I didn't even realise how disappointed I would be until now.

I'm pretty sure I ovulated on Thursday (CD19). Tomorrow's temp should confirm it. We hit O-2 and O, so here's to hoping the timing was good enough.
