Not unless the poor prize is 500K cash and is hand delivered by Chris Helmsworth in his Thor outfit.

ppppft. I couldn't even be on top of that cliff thing. I would be the spot laid out flat in the middle of the cliff, clutching at the earth until my nails broke and bled. How could I possibly get into a house like that? You'd have to tie a rope around me and drag my a$$ in there.

My thoughts exactly!

Too funny Gypsy! I don't even think Chris Heimaworh in his Thor outfit could get me there!

I would come to the housewarming party! We can get some fireworks and shoot them off over the ocean! But yeah you can invite Tony Stark and Thor too if you want  I think if my youngest daughter saw this, she would suggest they should build a slide that goes into the ocean. She's game for anything.

This.

Other than that whole thing of hanging off a cliff (EEEEEEEK!!!!!!!!!!), I would not want to live in a house of all glass. I like my privacy. I don't want helicopters or boats or anyone to be able to walk by and know exactly where I am and what I'm wearing (or not wearing!). I like to know the house will (probably) stand in event of earthquake. Oh... and glass BREAKS. Can you imagine what would happen if a rock hit that thing?!?! I also don't like cleaning windows.

But mostly..... it is hanging OFF a cliff! :errrr:

No one would fund that. Consider the price for the 10 years it could be therefore the cliff erods and it becomes structurally undsound.

It has that look you'd expect of 007's bachelor pad from a James Bond film.

And don't forget this house requires vertical living. No thanks. The most floors I want to live on are 2. I'll take the house Madame Bijoux posted thank you very much. As long as it is oceanfront that is. :cheeky:

Since there is not enough room for stairs it uses an elevator. Imagine if the elevator got stuck or stopping working, you would literally be trapped in the house. No climbing out of the window to get out either. Yikes!

Apparently the plan includes stairs next to the elevator shaft.
Here's one floor of the design.
The other floors and more info is here, http://modscape.com.au/cliff-house-by-modscape-concept/

Would I live it it? Absolutely! Could it be built? Absolutely not!

As a concept it's interesting but not the first time I have seen something like this. As a design its quite unimaginative. I have no problem with all glass walls, those kind of dwellings have been around for decades and there are ways to create privacy. In fact I live in a building many stories above the ground and dont have curtains either. It blocks the view and besides, no one can see me that high.

I will eat my words somewhat, I actually think it could be built, but not the way its rendered. You would have to really drill back horizontally into the cliff deeper then the length of the house. Not sure how you would that but I suppose it could be done. The price would be astronomical.

People said this could not be built:

And they were proved wrong:

In a heartbeat! It's beautiful and if it could be built, was in the right location, and had the right price I'd be queueing up (in a fairly short queue from the looks of it!) to put a down payment on it.

I do have a few practical questions. Where I grow my plants? Would any pets, such as a cat, be safe on the balcony? How would the windows be cleaned? Where are the closest shops and public transport? Are there any problems with erosion and what does the coast look like there vs 100 years ago? What direction does the sun come from and how that does effect the expense of heating or cooling the house? How is electric, gas, water, internet and phone supplied and how is waste taken away?

Assuming there were satisfactory answers to those questions and any others I had so that I could make it a home, I'd be all over it!

It will be too boring to stay there. You can't even find a neighbour to talk to when you're out walking the dog. I don't want a view of just waves; I'd want a seafront view with amenities and human interaction.
