oh my gosh!

Wonder what the price tag on that is?

I know. If you have to ask, you can't afford it.

I don't think gender would stop anyone from such a diamond to be honest ;-)

Now THAT's an FCD color I love, much nicer than all those fancy reds that are overhyped.

I've seen a couple of purplish reds that were astonishing. Orangey red and red can be brownish to my eye. Sometimes I wonder if the grader has as good an eye as I do lol!!

Could it be that some of the color is from the orchid leaf behind the gem???

I think it increases the perceived saturation, yes, Marlow. Here's another photo that answers my question as to why they valued it at only $4 million. However, I am impressed with the cutting in that the original rough was "just over 4 cts" & the final stone 3.37 -- preserved a lot of weight at VS2 clarity.

The background on this photo is pinkish/purple too. I'd like to see it on a white background.

Purplish red or pinkish red is the exception. Pure red is just meh to me, but maybe there's a nice one out there????

Love this!!! And the price is not bad...

It's nice, but I would want a GIA prior to purchase.

Did gia certify that diamond? I didn't read anywhere that they had. I've seen that diamond mentioned before.

I believe so. I don't think a major diamond of such rare color wouldn't go through the GIA, and it is stated to be "fancy vivid purple." GIA would give that designation. Pure purple diamonds are the rarest of all, with pure violet diamonds, much rarer than pure reds.

Well see that's what I mean. Gia mentions certifying the red shield, now the Moussaieff Red Diamond. But there is no mention of them, or from them, regarding certification of this particular diamond, or any straight purple diamond. So my question is still unanswered lol!!
