Guys,

I am a rookie here, and I need help to choose for diamond for my gf ;-). I wanted to get 2ct (or close to 2ct) diamond and my budget is 22K. All of these have great optics and I can't really tell how each of these will perform from the pictures.

Here are couple that I found, and I would love to get your feedbacks, on which one is a better performer.

I would appreciate help from the experts here... This is my first ever diamond purchase and I kind of do not know what I am doing here.

These are your best two contenders from that group:

2.025ct, I, VS2

2.01ct, I, SI1

Either of those is a winner - just go with which company has settings you prefer. The GOG stone is $2k less expensive, which you can put towards the setting. However, if the price difference is minimal to you, and you wanted to stick with a higher clarity (many folks do, at this size), you should opt for the Whiteflash stone. You really can't go wrong with either of those.

You've done well here!

Thanks for the quick reply Rocky. Do you mind sharing why you consider this to be better than the other one? So that I can learn as well. I was a little worried about the the white stuff on the top.

Absolutely.

First - you can ignore the white stuff - that is an artifact of the photography process.

The 2.07ct stone does not have the 'Eye Clean' symbol next to it, which means, to Whiteflash's standards, this stone is not eye-clean. I would not suggest a stone that is not eye-clean, if I can get one that is!

The cut of the 2.025ct is 'tighter' than the cut on the 2.042ct stone. Open each stone in one tab of your browser. Click on the Idealscope image for both stones. Click back and forth between these tabs, and hopefully you'll be able to see the superior Idealscope on the 2.025ct stone. Also - I prefer 'fatter' arrows, which the 2.025ct has.

The ACA stones are cut to such an exacting standard that if I can get one of those stones for about the same price as an ES stone, I'd jump at the chance.

Hope that proves helpful!

Thanks a lot for the explanation Rocky. I do see that the 2.025 has sharper edges on the ideal scope image.

I also notice that the 2.025 has darker red on the ASET image compared to the other one. Does that mean anything?

It would appear to be a result of two different photography set-ups being used, but I can't comment with 100% certainty.

Either way, reserve that 2.025ct before someone else does!

I just get off from a call with Whiteflash just now, and someone reserved it this morning :*(. I am sad that Debi let somebody else reserve it as we have been talking about how to wire the money over email.
