If someone asks you if your ring is new or your jewelry is new, how long do you consider it new for, before you
would say 'no I have had this a little while'?
Just a silly poll question :)

Another thought, just asked someone this question. They said it could also be seen as, being new since you last spoke to
that person. so could be in time since bought or dependant on the person asking the question.

Wondering also if newness relates to cost. E.g. would a $40 ring seem new after 8 months and would a $20000 ring seem new after 8 months. Meaning a once in a lifetime thing would newness last longer in the mind. :loopy:

It is new until it receives its first ding

I dinged my Tiffany knife edge within one month ... I don't know why it goes all the way around as it is just asking for trouble, should be flat on the bottom if you ask me.

 Susan!

Well, my original e-ring is over 30 year old, so my new one is now over a year old, and I'll probably call it new for a few years!

I said 6 months, but I'm guessing I'll still be staring in awe at my e-ring much past that.

I couldn't have said this better myself. I think exactly like you do Susimoo! I've had five engagement rings and one husband over the past 22 years
