Hello everyone,

I need some help to deciding on a diamond for this setting.
http://www.briangavindiamonds.com/engagement-rings/pave-and-side-stones/fishtail-pave-with-truth-head-18k-white-gold-5360w18

After some "detective" work, I have deduced that is what my girlfriend want for a ring setting. My budget for a diamond is max 10K-ish.

I found this stone: http://www.briangavindiamonds.com/diamonds/diamond-details/1.527-k-vs2-round-diamond-ags-104071675033

I love to get her a heart and arrow and larger stone about 1.5 carat so it would stand out. It seen like realistically, for a 1.5K stone in the 10K range, I have to settle for K color. My question is, will the K color match with that ring setting?

Thank you guys and girls for all your helps.

ps feel free to give other suggestions. I love to hear your suggestions.

Short answer: no it will not match. You will definitely see contrast. The question is, will it bother her?

I would encourage you to get an I color, and around SI1 in clarity.

unfortunately, Brian Gavin doesn't have much close to your size. White Flash does, however, and they have very similar, high quality settings. Check out this diamond: http://www.whiteflash.com/loose-diamonds/round-cut-loose-diamond-3063719.htm with this setting http://www.whiteflash.com/engagement-rings/diamond-settings/legato-micro-pave-diamond-engagement-ring-1011.htm

she is tad color sensitive, but after all my searching it seen like K Color was all I can afford for 1.5 Carat. This is all very tricky business with this endeavor: got to find the best/most affordable combination. I am hoping you guys can help me out. I would really like 1.5 carat if possible but if 1.3 is all my budget can afford then it will have to be. I am considering all options, K, J with fluorescence to give it a boost ? Don't have to be H & A if necessary to get it within budget and the criteria. I know I want the best cut possible because... well you guys all know why.. as close to clear white color as I can. And course clear eye.

Question on the H & A, can you really see the H & A in real life, just with your eyes? I have a feeling it not going to be as noticeable as they made it out to be in the pictures. And if that is the case, skips H & A and go for a larger size? also on Si1, Si2, the inclusion are clear eye but if my GF take a picture of the front face of the stone, and post it on Facebook, (which I know is one of the first things she will do) will the inclusion show up ? or do you have to put the stone under a true microscope to see the inclusions.

I don't do want her to be prove of the stone and be able to show off it to her friends and not feel like she need to hide or keep certain distances so the inclusions doesn't show up.

The WF setting above is a bit cheaper than the BG one, so I would purchase that setting from WF and this stone http://www.whiteflash.com/loose-diamonds/round-cut-loose-diamond-3172032.htm
Its an I colour which will still face up beautifully white and its a VS 2 very clean so there is nothing to worry about regarding clarity.
Its not there Cut Above, which you did mention did not worry you, however there Expert Selection is still gorgeous and honestly I would not sacrifice cut. This 1.4 ct stone is only about 15mm off a 1.5 ct size and I don't believe you will notice the difference.
So the saving you make on the WF setting will cover the bit extra on this stone.

I have looked through a few other vendors that I would only ever personally buy from and this is the best that I can see.
Good luck :)

PS Don't forget to mention your a PS member you may get a slight further discount, Im not sure on there policy.

What do you guys think about this diamond ?

Talk it over with the girlfriend, indirectly on the subject, and I gather she won't mind the "warmer color", but prefer the 1.5 carat or larger. Me, I am dead stuck to my budget - Cant go more than 11K for everything. I need the cut to be the best or close to it - this is diamond it in term of cut and performance. The Aset image scare me, and the inclusion in the center also worry me, but it is eye clean. The ideal scope look good, though. This diamond and the setting will get me for about 1050.

I'm thinking that diamond is not eye clean. You won't be able to see it unless you look for it though. Still, once she finds it, it may bother her and she'll always be looking for the inclusion rather than at the beauty... Not to scare you, but that's just what happens to some people.

No you cannot see "hearts and arrows" per se, but you can see a well cut diamond vs a not well cut diamond.

If you're confident she'll be okay with K color, I think you have a winner. But just in case, here is another to consider from James Allen http://www.jamesallen.com/loose-diamonds/round-cut/1.58-carat-j-color-si1-clarity-excellent-cut-sku-290898
