Hi,
I joined this forum to ask for some advice to buy an engagement ring.
My budget for the loose diamond is around $4500-$5500
I did a search on James Allen with the following grading:
Cut: ideal
Clarity: VS1
color: F
Carat: 0.8-1.0

Polish: excellent
symmetry: excellent
depth: 59-63%
table: 53-62%
fluorescence: none-faint

The search found these 2

http://www.jamesallen.com/loose-diamonds/round-cut/0.80-carat-f-color-vs1-clarity-excellent-cut-sku-201815

Is the sku-242331 the better one and is it a good buy overall?

Hi, your parameters are much too great. First limit your search to Ideal and True Hearts only. This is the easiest way to search. Then I use these as they usually fall into ideal cut territory.

table: 54-58

depth: 60-62.3

crown angle: 34-35

pav angle: 40.6-41.0

I do not love either of those stones. One has a depth of 62.7. Greater depth and thicker girdles can result in a stone having a smaller diameter than it should for it's weight.

#242331 is a possibility, but you'd definitely need idealscope images on that one. I prefer .80 ct stones to have close to 6mm diameter, though.

If you could go to F VS2 at .80, Whiteflash has a couple of hearts and arrows ideal cut stones (ACA) at $5k. They are both 6mm. You can at least use them for comparison at JA.

Thanks for the advice. Whiteflash website does provide better metrics to compare. I have used your parameters while searching on it and I have got 6 results that came out. I included VS2 also in the search.

Can you recommend me any of these or any other for my budget?
