Well it has been over a 3 month project but I finally picked up my oval diamond engagement ring from the diamond district of Los Angeles today. It has been quite a journey getting the ring done and I probably spent close to 80 hours learning about oval diamonds over it. I owe a big thank you to the resources and people on this forum for helping guide me down the right path. Without your insight and the tools on PriceScope I most likely have a very different size and quality diamond ring then what I got.
The journey started in the following thread where I only had maybe 8 hours of knowledge about diamonds and no knowledge of the advanced ways of telling the quality of a diamond. I was a newb. https://www.pricescope.com/communit...agement-ring-in-solitare-pave-setting.201874/
I quickly realized I had alot more to learn and could get diamonds from alot more places online. After 60+ hours of learning and research I ended up working with B2C jewels who were great and very helpful. I narrowed down the diamonds to a few that made sense. One of the last posts in this thread documents those final choices. https://www.pricescope.com/community/threads/picking-between-two-oval-diamonds-help-please.202343/
B2C picked this diamond as the best in show from the options and I agreed: http://www.b2cjewels.com/dd-4967802-1.50-carat-Oval-diamond-H-color-VS1-clarity.aspx
I had the diamond set on this setting and THOUGHT I was done. http://www.b2cjewels.com/Matching-B...-14K-White-Gold-(1-2-cttw)-10520-10521-1.aspx
When I received the ring in the mail from B2C, I LOVED the diamond but something felt off about the setting. The setting did not do the diamond justice. I sent the ring back. B2C were amazing in dealing with my return providing extremely quick turnaround in refunding me for the setting and getting me back the loose diamond. I took the loose diamond to the diamond district of Los Angeles and after talking to a few jewelries with good Yelp reviews I found a great guy. If you are in LA and need a trustworthy and fair jewler go to Oscar. Tell him Kirk sent you ! http://www.yelp.com/biz/oscars-design-jewelry-los-angeles
He made me a setting for the diamond in about 3 weeks, which was a much higher quality then the original setting. There are 22 beautiful side diamonds that wrap around almost the entire ring. I picked it up today and am thrilled with the final result. I hope she loves it.
-Thank you again everyone here who takes the time to help others!
