Do you ladies have any experience with any Etsy pearl vendors (I know Kamoka Pearls opened a shop). Or shops that carry pearl jewelry on easy?

I have been browsing Etsy and came across a few vendors that sell pearls, and pearl jewelry. Wanted to know if you ladies had any experience with any shops. Here are the ones I have been checking out

Terra Finds (I got here by looking for some fireball pearls)

I just had a look at the site Amrita..very romantic and interesting bridal work !
Another pearl vendor is MKMPearls from Hawaii / California.

I've never bought pearls from anyone on Etsy as I buy from wholesalers but I have bought a ton of things from Patty and we have all seen various things she has custom made for various regulars here..she would get my vote !

I have bought my pearls from Elizabeth, most of them custom pieces. She is lovely to work with, decent prices and hand selects her pearls locally, some of which come from Ahe, the same Atoll that Josh from Kamoka farms.

Exactly, I asked her and she said they are completely natural. I am not sure now what to do but I can ask if she had a money back guarantee and then show them to my jeweller.

Thanks

Well, this vendor has only made 16 sales since she opened her etsy shop more than a year ago - that's one red flag to me. The 2nd red flag is that she has only 4 reviews (and two of them are "Anonymous"). And the 3rd red flag is her return policy:

"I strive for 100% customer satisfaction always, but buyer's remorse is not a valid reason for returning an item, even if the item is a gift for someone else. Because of the type of items I sell, and the vulnerability, returns are not accepted unless you are accidentally shipped a wrong item. Please view photos and descriptions and ask questions before your purchase. I am happy to communicate with you and quickly answer questions. I want your business and hopefully repeat business, so the items I sell are true to the presented descriptions as I know them."

If you purchase from her, based on her stated policy, I don't think you will have grounds to return the item even if your jeweler says they are not South Sea pearls, or not natural pearls. She only accepts PayPal, so you may have recourse through PayPal... I don't know.

Hi Rinky - they look dyed to me. Never buy from anyone online who has a no returns policy. I learned that the hard way!

I've bought from TerraFinds - I recommend her for findings but not pearls. In my experience they are low quality and too highly priced. I bought and returned three strands to learn this - each time getting dinged for the restocking fee!
I've gotten much better pearls from Patricia Saab Designs! You can't go wrong with Pattye. And she will take requests when she's going to a GemFaire (if you ask nicely). :)

I absolutely agree that Pattye is definitely one of the most respected and reputable of Etsy pearl vendors. You can never go wrong with her.
Rinkyb, I am reasonably sure that those pearls are dyed freshwater pearls! :???:

I think that is a good call.

My thoughts are the seller has no idea what SS pearl is,I don't think she is being deceitful, just terribly uninformed, and uneducated. That mixed with her atrocious return policy would keep me away!

Last october I purchased my first pearls. From that Ruby Lane seller. I asked many times how can they be akoyas and from South Sea. She pointed that there excists akoya from South Sea too, not just Japanese. I trusted her. I was newbie and she was able to mislead me. Maybe there is Australian SS akoya, but mine isn't them. Lesson learned. Buy akoyas only from trusted seller. I have stuck with FW pearls now, but if I ever seriously consider akoyas I'll turn to POJ or PP.

I am sorry you were mislead, but judging from the pictures and neck shot you ended up with a beautiful strand nonetheless. Sadly a lot of us have been misinformed. Always trust good vendors sellers!

Ladies I have removed a number of posts in this thread from different vendors. A reminder that trade members are NOT allowed to recommend other vendors or comment on their merchandise, positive or negative.

Thank you for your cooperation. :))

Stumbling through easy during a thunderstorm lead me to this little shop. They have some very interesting antique statement pieces with some lovely seed pearl rings. I ADORE the Citrine, pearl and Turquoise ring.

Second this. I purchased some fireballs from Terra as well and the pearls were terrible quality and measured smaller than quoted. It also took more than three months to arrive. Would not recommend. At all.

I have bought from indoseapearls many times. She photographs the pearls individually (and very well) and is detailed in her description. Think she carries mainly loose pearls. Very friendly and easy to work with.

I can recommend etsy vendors Sheryl at MKMPearls and Pattye at PatriciaSaabDesigns most highly. I have purchased pearls from both of these ladies and had a good experience each time.

I have purchased a few loose tahitians from here and they are pretty nice for the price. Some are not so pretty, but the pictures are very honest, and I have liked what I have received. She is also really nice to work with too.

I also came across the pearl shop, which opened last month. The seller is really nice, and the pictures look pretty amazing. I am buying a few pearls to see how they are in person.

Thanks for updating with your experiences! Those tahitians look lovely, at least to my untrained eye. Which category did you pick them from? Also, maybe this is a dumb question, but what do you do about getting them drilled?

9 mm circled rainbow and 10mm baroque peacock I do believe.

as for getting pearls drilled my jeweler does that, although I have been researching pearl drills for myself, or modifying a dremel for pearl drilling (would require me making a few holders and templates and fun things like that)
