So we decided to exchange wedding gifts for our May 30th beach wedding, I picked out a $460 watch, now it's time for me to find her gift.

She mentioned she would really like Morganite earrings on rose gold or maybe Tanzinite earrings on white gold. She's picky on stone quality and color. Any sugestions are appreciated. I imagine I could get a lot more in Morganite/ rose, perhaps 2 items for the price of the Tanzinite right?

She likes filigree work

What is your budget? I'm assuming close to the price of your watch?

HI

I have no idea about the quality of these but they are in budget. Not sure if the cut is good. Hopefully Chrono will chime in :)

Not sure about these. they look weird in the last shot, but again hopefuly Chrono will give her opinion

I love the shape and setting but unfortunately, you can drive a truck through that window.

These look nice.

Not sure if they look cloudy from the handling (skin oils and smudges) but they are quite pale, if she likes pale morganite.

Another vote for the tanzanite earrings that Melave linked to. The color is lovely and will provide a good punch of color visible from a distance, unlike the morganite that will likely get lost from farther away.

hmm thanks guys.
our budget is $500.
When I say she likes filigree I mean a little on the setting. We're going to look at the mall shops later today just to scope some stuff out, not buy.
Kay's, Zales, Jared etc...

The quality of tanzanite at mall shops are dismal. DH brought me shopping there for a push present and all I saw were overpriced pale purple tanzanite. Did not see a single morganite.

I am sure you told her what kind of watch you wanted (make and model) . Why don't you have her go on the internet and find a few pieces she likes and then surprise her with one of her preferences. Please stay away from mall stores-they have crap at inflated prices.

we have been looking and can't find anything, that's why I'm here.
She will pick her gift but I need to help her find the best we can afford

Could you post some pics of -- or links to 'net listings -- of the style(s) of earrings she'd like, so we would have visual aids re what we should be looking for in terms of settings & size of stones needed, if (as seems likely) the earrings have to be custom crafted?

Does she have a pinterest account showing earrings she likes? That might help. It is hard to give you options because due to your time constraint and budget. Gold prices aren't through the roof anymore but they are still way up there.

Did someone look to Hearts of Water yet on Esty? Perhaps this would work? You could always message Sally to see if she has something for earrings.

Can you show us the colour of tanzanite and morganite she likes?
Please show us earring settings that she likes (not necessarily with tanzanite and morganite set)?

As of now, we have no idea where to search since your parameters are so broad. It sounds like you could be headed down the custom setting route which will take time and more money, particularly since she is picky about the setting and gem quality.

motown: there are so many vendors on etsy with many varying styles. Perhaps if she hasn't already, she could spend a little time there looking at various types of earrings to decide what she likes? For example, does she want studs or dangles? Does she like an antique feel or a modern streamlined (like bezel) sensibility? Does she like a certain metal color? Does she want deeply saturated tanzanites or might she prefer some of the lighter, more common variety? These are some starting points. :))

I'll post some stuff later when I get home.
I think the origional plan was Morganite studs on rose gold with filigree ordamental setting, but she doesnt want washed out colors or super bright candy coated ones either.

Does that make sense?

Back up plan, tanzinite on white gold.
But what we saw last time we looked all was washed out and crappy

This leaves me a bit perplexed as to what she might like then. Something pastel maybe? It would be great if you have any examples of the types of color she does like that would be great.

Not sure if the $1250 ring on the list means that you now have expanded your budget appreciably, so I'm suggesting 2 possible alternatives to the Kay Jeweler earrings selling for $399. Those are 10K white gold, have 0.125 ct weight in diamonds, and in little print under the Product Specifications tab, Kay owns up to the fact that you can't expect those little diamonds to be any better than J in color and I2 - I3 in clarity (which is simply wretched).

* Brian Gavin's huggies, in 14K gold with .24 ct weight (almost twice as much as the Kay earrings) of his much nicer Signature melee, for $450 (you may get a bit of PriceScope discount, doesn't hurt to ask):
http://www.briangavindiamonds.com/diamond-earrings/fashion/leverback-huggies-14k-white-gold-5413w14

* Whiteflash's "huggable" 18K diamond earrings with .14 tcw of their A Cut Above, Hearts & Arrows diamond melee for $480-495. These are a closer match to the Kay earrings in terms of type: you can loop on a pearl or gem "charm" for a different , dangly look. That option isn't possible with the Brian Gavin huggies because those are differently constructed, with leverbacks.
http://www.whiteflash.com/diamond-earrings/huggable-diamond-earrings-430.htm

ETA: either pair would be well worth the price differential between them and the Kay earrings.

so Morganite stones are only "worth" $30?

that's depressing

I sent her a link to those diamond huggies type earrings above, maybe she'll like them?

the expensive ring link was only to demonstrate the style and type of color she likes etc....

budget is still $500

The price of metals are at an all time high so for your budget, the bulk of the cost is actually in the setting itself. I'm guessing just the baskets of the earrings are $200 to $300, the setting fee is probably $100 total, so the remaining $100 would be for the stones. Morganite and tanzanite are very affordable in smaller sizes and paler colouration. There is a stone for every budget and not everyone necessarily likes or appreciates the more expensive colours. :))

she loves these and I contacted them asking if there is a possibility of a price break discount for being a pricescope user.

Thanks for the suggestion.

:)

any other suggestions before I pull the trigger?

Glad my latest post in this thread was more useful to you than my 1st! ;))

I did look through the web sites of other online vendors (e.g., Blue Nile, ID Jewelry, James Allen), but the 2 pairs of earrings I linked above represent the best imo of the possibilities I saw because of their combinations of assured delivery in time, quality, and price.

This thread includes PS'er pics of the Brian Gavin huggies, so you two can have a better idea of how they will look in real life, in the ear.
https://www.pricescope.com/community/threads/bgd-leverback-huggies-my-lovely-itty-bitties.145556/m

ETA: fwiw, of the diamond-only earrings I own, I actually prefer my little huggies over the pricier studs of greater tcw. The huggies are more comfortable to wear, and years later, I'm still kinda hyper about losing one of the studs, which distracts from my enjoyment of them.

Yeah my fiancee said that she thinks she would wear them more than the other ideas and it would be something that would have a lot of use as far as her collection goes

Those are pretty and delicate. Not quite what you were originally considering, but awesome that they would work for her. :))
