Betteridge is having its annual online sale. That famous avatar ruby ring from Tiffany, for example, is marked down from $18,000 to $10,800. (Pictured below; 1.95 carats.) An unheated Burmese ruby of 6.77 carats, set in a traditional diamond cluster, is down from $99,000 to just $69,300. xxx_28_1336050316_1.jpg

Oh gosh, I was just waiting for them to come down! :lickout: Damn, they are gorgeous.

Betteridge had a Cartier Tutti-Frutti bracelet in their window for weeks when I worked across the street. First one I ever saw -- I used to stand on the pavement & drool every single day until, to my sorrow, somebody must have bought it. I always resented that it wasn't me!

There are some fascinating pieces in there! I have no real frame of reference on the price, but this belle epoque demantoid garnet necklace is exquisite.

Everything was "okay, nice, interesting" ....then this one came along with a BAM! Such a beautiful necklace. As you can tell, I've been obsessed with Belle Epoque jewellery lately.

I agree it is beautiful until I read the price was $27 000.00 on sale from $45 000.00.... Is it just me or are their things even on sale slightly over the top price wise...

To be fair we don't know the ct weight of the demantoids. They could be huge, and large demantoids are very scarce in good quality. However, I know nothing about the prices of large demantoids and you're probably right that it's overpriced.

At least looking at the pics doesn't cost money

Hummmm, I don't think my little sales enable me to trade up to rubies. ah me.
Do like the Burmese ruby and wouldn't refuse the first one either. Lisa Elser just put out her spring catalog and has some pretty pieces. I tried to copy pics to post but unable to.

It's stunning. I'd love to attempt a poor (wo)man's homage version with peridots, and maybe marquisite, but I think the hassle of finding the right jeweller to pull off an intricate design like that would potentially suck the joy out of the experience!

InToTheMystic,
I am currently attempting a poor (wo)man's homage to the Belle Epoque design and agree that the design is difficult and expensive to replicate. Perhaps that isn't the case in Eastern Europe where such designs originated but it is definitely so here in the US.
