Hi,

Please help me choose between these asscher options:

1 - http://www.goodoldgold.com/diamond/12028/
2 - http://www.goodoldgold.com/diamond/12029/
3 - http://www.goodoldgold.com/diamond/12043/
4 - http://www.goodoldgold.com/diamond/12061/
5 - http://www.goodoldgold.com/diamond/12060/

The initial criteria was a wide cornered, bright, great performing D, E, F asscher <$8500 with a small table >1ct. Options 1 & 2 were recommended (out of the 5 called in). The rest are from the second round. What do you think? Your feedback would be appreciated. Thank you for your help.

eta I see the J is no longer available. Everything about it was perfect...but we hesitated over the tint. Do the parameters need to be loosened or the budget increased?

The J was the best stone by far. But another poster put that on hold pending purchase today. Of those you posted that are still available this is the best one: http://www.goodoldgold.com/diamond/12043/ NONE of the others would be in contention for me. That said... not my favorite ASET on that E. And I'm not sure I'd buy it.

Can they keep looking for you?

Thank you Gypsy. Your feedback is very much appreciated.

While the Octavia is an absolutely beautiful cut, I am looking for a more "traditional" asscher, with the facet/patterns shown in the J.

We are waiting to speak with Jonathan tomorrow to discuss our options before we contact another vendor. He has said there is nothing else available, and we are not sure how to proceed... Thank you for those suggestions, I've been looking at the very same as well.

Hi,

New options, your input is requested:

1 - http://www.goodoldgold.com/diamond/12057/
2 - http://www.goodoldgold.com/diamond/12059/

http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=4CEU1m4Qcm4&persist_app=1&app=m

3 - custom cutting a stone with GOG
4 - inquiring about the other suggested stones (thank you Gypsy & JulieN)

Questions:

Is the blue border in the ASET of option 2 an issue? In the video, it has great broad flashes of light, and is very bright. However the step pattern is not very visible. Is that just an issue of the photography?

Option 1 is a beautiful bright stone with lovely step patterns. It's appearance is "more delicate" with thinner flashes vs the broader flashes of light of the other. I have a slight preference for "chunkier" flashes and wider corners. Assuming the blue border & steps are not an issue, it will be hard to choose between the two.

We are open to option 3; apparently even if the budget is increased there is nothing else available apart from purchasing and cutting down a stone.

Thanks again for your help, looking forward to your replies.

I'd buy #1 it's a SPECTACULAR stone. http://www.goodoldgold.com/diamond/12057/ Seriously.

The D looks much better in the video than it does in the flat link. And it does have a lovely shape and at first it grabbed me. But even though it flashes, that dark step would bother me in the long run and as the video wore on the G really started to pull ahead. By the end of the video, for me, G VS1 eclipsed the D (and all the others in the video). And I can tell you, that having watched a lot of Jon's asscher videos that stone is seriously special, and I would not pass it by. I didn't see ANYTHING at JA that is going to compete with that stone.

You could go with a custom cut stone as well. And that's a lovely option... that would let you get exactly what you want. But PERSONALLY, I'd get the G sent to me in person (buy it have it sent to you) and if I don't love it after 4 days...THEN I'd return it and think about a custom cut stone at that point.

But first, I'd see the G in person. It's really fantastic.

The stone is arriving tomorrow! (#1)

There was a mixup two weeks ago, and I was forwarded a different link to this stone (#4 - G VS2). While it performed beautifully in the video, the pictures/specs didn't quite match, and I was a bit confused. Glad it's been sorted out!

Thank you so very much Gypsy for your replies here and in the numerous other threads I've read. For taking the time to share your knowledge and providing feedback & suggestions. Karl_K, JulieN, Chrono, diamondseeker, and countless others - your posts have been so very informative & helpful. Thanks again to the wonderful Pricescope community.

How lovely! Very, very elegant and you will not be able to stop looking at it! Here's a tip from a "friend" - do not look at your diamond while driving! :) Suuuper-happy you can now wear and enjoy!
