Those artists are incredibly talented.
That said ... and this is a philosophical musing*, not meant to be a thread-jack ... I do wonder what amazing things they could concoct if they were to depart, however slightly, from mundane subject matter. The two I liked best - the redhaired child and the haughty lady at the end - both looked as much or more like "characters" or avatars or muses, concocted from the imagination, than subjects the artists were depicting. Given that we *do* have the capacity for hyper-realistic still images using less time-consuming means ... what does it mean for the artist to devote this effort to capturing, say, a lady passed out next to her midnight snack?
* I have had three and a half hours of sleep. Go easy on me.
