I read on another thread posted here , R.Wise mentioned depending on the quality/size etc for sapphires determines the rarity and therefore price difference but for rather common sizes such as 1-3 ct sapphires
What sort of price difference is there
R.Wise mentioned+50 , does that mean 50 percent or double, say a stone is 1000 would it be 1500 untreated or 2000 ?

I think that's overshooting it. Maybe X 1.25 or 1.5.

The following info is strictly anecdotal from handling blue Sapphires both untreated and treated over the past 30+ years. Of sales from fall 2013.... and includes various gems mined in Tanzania, Sri Lanka and Madagascar.

Heat only - given a quality/appearance rating of say 7 out of 10 (10 being a top quality Sapphire as judged by the gem trade)
over 1.00ct and up to 1.99ct - approximately $600-$700 per carat
Same as above, but untreated: approximately $800 to $900 per carat assuming all other quality factors the same

Heat only - given a quality/appearance rating of say 7 out of 10 (10 being a top quality Sapphire as judged by the gem trade)
over 2.00ct and up to 2.99ct - approximately $1000-$1200 per carat
Same as above, but untreated: approximately $1400 to $1800 per carat assuming all other quality factors the same
*keep in mind, it is likely that quality merchants will at this level provide AGL or similar lab reports that have an additional cost of $140-$210 + shipping costs.

I've chosen a "7" as a quality rating, and on higher quality Sapphires the differential between heated and unheated will be even greater. There are bargains to be had where a vendor has fine Sapphire, knows it is untreated, but hasn't popped for a report yet. This is not uncommon and these situations are prevalent when labs like AGL have temporarily shut down their offices due to holidays, trade shows etc.

Hope you find this useful.
